Claiming to be from Citibank and that my card was ready to send but details needed to be confirmed. I have never applied for a Citibank card, or any credit card for that matter. I was told that I must have forgotten applying for it. When I requested their details the line went dead.

Caller: Citibank guys I can confirm this number is legit call, they may sound like all other spam calls but this one is legit as I just placed an application with Citibank few days ago.
If you don't pick up the call, you may find that your credit card application declined.

Caller: Scam Received a call on my mobile, and then immediately after on my work landline saying my credit card had a fraudulent transaction. I called back on 1300 550 216. I spoke to a person with a muffled but otherwise clear voice, and call centre background noise. He asked for my credit card details so he could clarify the nature of the fraud. I refused to give any information. I called my bank and they verified that the calls WERE NOT FROM THEM. This is a scam call.

Legitimate Call. They are a section of CitiBank that deal with the processing of applications for Qantas Money Credit Cards and other flavours that are backed by CitiBank.

Caller: Fraud investigations These calls are legitimate.
There is fraud analytics reviewing all transactions for suspicious behaviour, this is called modelling.
Sometimes a company's data can be compromised causing a breach (think Apple or Netflix and the amount of Credit Card information they would have stored in their database and imagine that got hacked). It is a legal requirement for the company that has had the data leak to advise the relevant authorities or governing bodies within 24hrs of them becoming aware. That info is provided to the Financial Institutions (FI's); ie CBA, NAB, ANZ etc...
Massive penalties are imposed if they're a data breach's that could have been avoided if these companies followed the security recommendations that are made by the FI's

Caller: Scam Wanted my credit card details. A lot of noise in the back ground, like an Indian call centre. Also said they wanted to come to Australia so they could make a lot of money and be able to bring over all their relatives, including their cousin, who they were going to marry one day.

Caller: Dubious Bit confused about this number - I have applied for a QF CC through Point Hacks and Citi was the card issuer like some other users on this thread, however when I called the number back it was engaged. Dubious.
