As per everyone else here, caller made the same claim that is the basis of all good remote access scams. I asked for a number that I could call them back on - interestingly they gave me a VIC/TAS based number. I'm guessing they have it setup as a premium service?
I call Telstra instead - They said that unless I had reported a problem, they wouldn't have called me.

These used panty liners are the absolute scum of the earth, calling with various reasons in an attempt at relieving you of your hard earned dollars. They called me 7 times in 2 hours mostly claiming they are from Telstra with an attempt at fixing my NBN connection. Simply tell these cockroaches firmly with as much expletives as you can muster to bugger off.

SCAMMER. Called us a few times before saying I had issues with my computer being hacked. I pretended to go along with the oxygen thief. I let him go for almost 15 minutes then told him my computer wasn't even switched on. He started to get a little bit angry and told him that he had only told me to sit in front of my computer and that I had typed in what he told me. He didn't say I had to switch the thing on. Then I asked him why he was a lower than shark sh*t scamming cowardly thief and he threatened to rape my mother and daughter. Anyway, he entertained me for a few more minutes before putting the phone down. Now we get calls from this number twice a day and when we answer it we get a robotic voice which just says one word - "goodbye" - before the line goes dead. Telstra need to something about these cockroaches using ghost Australian numbers. They are scamming and thieving off vulnerable old and confused people by frightening them into giving credit card details to rectify a problem that doesn't exist. Always an Indian or Pakistani sounding voice - UTTER SCUM.

have called more than 8 times today (sometimes 10 mins apart) I asked for their phone number, he replied with its ok ma'am, I'm just to help you with your internet connection, I'm calling from Telstra, If you're in front of your computer, I can help you and it wont cost you anything. I repeated, What is your phone number and he gave a Melbourne number yet the caller display stated (08) 9562 3201. Idiot. I quickly cut him off stating i'm calling that number now and hung up. I called the number and it's disconnected.

I suggest to everyone to get a handsfree phone that shows the numbers calling. If numbers aren't recognisable don't answer. If its important people will leave a message. These nuisance callers keep calling if you answer. If you don't answer they get less. Its time our govt put a stop to these fraud callers as should Telstra. They use a computer to call and they have made the numbers look like they are local numbers. The more you answer the more they call.

I told them they were a bunch of racist thieves who thought Australians were here to be stolen from & that they were giving their culture a very bad name.... I am now on some kind of an automatic re-call system that is calling me every 22 mins from just before 1:00pm & Just before 6:00pm (EST) - been going on for a few days now.... I hope they are being charged for those calls

A real pity that TELSTRA IS NOT PROACTIVE ABOUT THIS GIVEN IT IS THEIR CORPORATE REPUTATION (such that it is) being tarnished by these nuisance calls

Claims to be from Telstra and says there are security issues with my computer. Interesting that, seeing as I don't have a computer!

Wog clown claimed he was from Telstra & there was something wrong with my internet but he was calling to help me fix it. I told him my internet had nothing to do with Telstra because I have satellite broadband, but he insisted that ALL internet is controlled by Telstra in one way or another. It was at that point I lost my cool & told him to do something that is physically impossible.
Less than five minutes later I had a call from a private number, this time it was a wog female who started trying to tell me the same thing. I cut her short & told her to do exactly what I told him.

I get calls from this number, but when I answer there is silence first, then a recorded female voice says cheerily ‘goodbye’. I am also on the do not call register, but get lots of ‘solar rebate’ or ‘ your internet connection is faulty’ or ‘ your computer is at risk’.

I won't put my name here and remain anonymous just like the pest callers. Just like everyone else on this forum, we are on the 'do not call register' which isn't worth the paper it's printed on. They have called me so many times I now play along with their game. I put on a foreign accent and tell them I don't have a computer. I ask for a number to call back on confirm who they are and they immediately hang up. What puzzles me is why they keep calling back to the same numbers ( me included) all the time. At least I have been able to block the number from annoying me on my mobile phone.

Same as above - constantly calling (I know this from my unanswered calls list). Then when they did get me (twice), the first time the girl was giggling whilst saying she was calling me about my internet and then hung up on me before I could say much and the second caller was also supposedly from Telstra asking if I could talk to him about my internet. He hung up on me after I told him I didn’t have time to talk to him! I wont bother answering in future.

Multiple calls on multiple days on multiple weeks!!! From, if you call back, is a non-existent number - with comments you can gather from all who have complained about it from this site!! The once great AUSTRALIAN company can: Firstly, stop + totally block this thief from hurting so many people (particularly, the vulnerable in our society)!! Secondly, get rid of these bloody foreign outsourced Call-Centres, bring back the jobs to Australia and look after their clients - which wouldn't hurt the bottom line too much; + you, TELSTRA, might even find that all those Australians who have deserted you in droves, over the last decade or more, might even consider porting back to TELSTRA! Wouldn't it be a great idea if you announced that you were bringing your products and employees, etc back home to AUSTRALIA + not some poxy foreign outsourced call centre - on AUSTRALIA DAY!? Or do you think so little of your clients (poor souls) that they deserve second class treatment from what was a first-class company, but is now falling to a third class company? So SAD.
