Have been receiving these 'hang-up' calls once a week for a month or so. My number's on the Do Not Call register already. It might be an idea to write down every time they call, build up a case to take to Optus.

I'm not convinced this call comes from Optus itself; if near end of contract Optus will discuss your account history and know everything about you. You might be asked some questions to confirm identity but it should not be trolling. If you happen to get an asian call centre then chill and have some fun with them. I like to see how long I can keep someone on the line and get them to give up information.

Took 2 minutes
I thin kif everybody got on and did it it would stop.
Optus need to pull their heads in!

Just had a call from the number and yes they did hang up. Will not be calling back and have noted the number so I do not answer it in the future.

I had a call from (08) 7328 1888 and the telemarketer said that I was a loyal Optus customer who was nearing the end of my contract. He said that because of my history with Optus they would be able to provide a good incentive to renew my contract. He asked my surname which I thought was odd as he called me from Optus, but I gave it to assure who I was. Then I was asked for my address and date of birth. At this point, I'm starting to doubt that this is a genuine Optus call. As soon as I challenged it, he politely said "We might leave it there!" and hung up. If this is Optus - Shame! If not, beware as it more dodgy telemarketers wanting to rip off the Aussie public.

Got call from this number.After i answer and verify my name,address and date off birth he hang up.And no more call after that.What the purpose of that call?????????

Yup, hung up on answering - why bother to call?!?

Add that to thieving cash grabs on data - and all up, our two numbers will be off their books by the close of Feb.

Similar experience. Have just lodged complaint with telecommunications industry ombudsman TIO. See how we go. Anyone know what I/we should expect from TIO?

Have just submitted complaint to TIO. Lets see if they are any more competent than Optus. Otherwise it's off to the police and the Courts to submit an application for an intervention order. And then the newspapers, who would love to hear about Optus' method of harrassing its own customers!

Very annoying, they should cease doing this, although they have probably worked out it makes them more money than losses in customers thats why they persist, what we should do is popularize sites like this to make more people aware

(08) 7328 1888 - Has also been calling me every day for the past week. And yes same - they call and hand up quite quickly, This is based on Automatic Call Center dialing - when your phone is picked up; then the call gets transferred to the Indian call center operators to commence with their selling spiel. *We should all Boycott - Optus Indian Call Center outsourcing*. Some call center employee's leak our private data for under-table money. And it's hard to understand what they are saying in frustrating Tech Support calls. Keep the Australian Call center positions here, not allow overseas employment. ;-) Thx 4 reading.

got one last night. a female asked for lisa, argh who is it, is that you brett, nah no lisa or brett here sorry wrong number, then 2 misssed calls today. can't wait for the next one, my contract is almost over so will have some fun with em. bloody yanks, cheap but no service in the regional areas.

This cal is a PITA! They keep ringing me from this number-about 5 times in 3 days- it rings once and then stops. Nusiance calling is what it is, I am with Optus- and will now change provider when my contract ends because of this. It is simply rude to do this over and over!
