Just received a call no ringtone and no msge left. Suggestion; If you get caught with them live, tell them you can't talk now and ask for their number to callback. When they decline ask them if they don't like unsolicited calls? When they say yes then tell them now you know how I feel and hang up! -Seinfeld

Got a call from the number; didn't call back; Googled it. I'd like to thank everyone for posting the info on this page.
I'm on the DNC register. I've had a number of unknown listed numbers and the occasional 'no caller ID' call my phone recently. Yesterday I also received a bogus text asking me to phone 'urgenrlty' and gave me a reference # to quote. I sent a copy of the text message to the ACMA Spam SMS report 0429 999 888; www.spam.acma.gov.au).
For the phone calls, if I don't answer they don't leave a voicemail. When I did answer the other day, a woman with an Indian accent asked "Is this Mrs X (mispronounced my surname)?" When I said yes, she asked if I own my home (I do). I said no and hung up as I knew it was a scam. So annoying.

Answered it automatically and the line just went dead with a missed call notice. Thanks to all who posted. Good to know don't have to call back.

Thank you to all previous posts. This caller phoned my mobile. I didn't recognise the number so I didn't answer. If the call is genuine they usually leave a message. The nuisance callers and scammers don't leave messages and neither did this one. If you have an iPhone like me, click on the 'Phone' icon on your home screen and then click on 'Recents'. On the number that just called you (which should be on the top of the list) to its right, there should be a blue circle with the letter 'i' inside it. Tap on that and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on 'Block this caller'. Problem solved. If you have the time, go to the 'Do Not Call' Register web site and fill in the complaint form. The more people do that, the more pressure is applied to these low-life pests.

Here's what to do when you receive any scam call. Ask them to hold the line then press random numbers on your phone keypad. When asked, tell them that the call is being recorded for training purposes. They will usually hang up. If they stay on the line, tell them that you are on the DNC register, and that the number they have dialled from has been reported and their boss is to expect a $10,000 fine from the Australian Government. If they still stay on the line, tell them that now is an inappropriate time to call and ask them for a number to call them back on as you are interested in what they are offering. Tell them that you will ring them back at 2.30am their time as that will suit you. Any of the above will make them hang up abruptly, so be prepared.

Missed a call, got home and googled the number, arrived here. I now know what to expect. I have a game plan for these tossers so this is another caller I have to use it on.

I got a call from this number last night asking to speak with me, talking about a new tax related benefit of a home owner in VIC, then transferring the call to a so-call supervisor who started asking a lot of personal information. When I questioned why they called from WA about the benefit in VIC, and how they got my name, they hung up.

Put them on the auto reject list on my phone. Sick of scam phone calls from people who cannot speak the Queen's English!

Just got a call from them. I picked up and they told me they were from Windows and that they had help me with my computer because it was corrupted. Told them that I knew they were a scam and that I would know if my computer was corrupted. They kept insisting they were from Windows. Told me they were based in North Ryde, Sydney. When I questioned how can that be when the calling code for NSW is 02 and this was an 08 number, they just skirted around the question. Beyond dodgy!

Blocking them only puts them straight through to Messagebank on my mobile. One call was all about comparing health insurance. As they were going to guarantee a call back within 48 hours, I agreed. Four days after the initial contact, I gets a call that I can't answer from a different number. Turns out it is the price comparison for the health insurance, 'cos they rang the next day and I was able to answer them. The guy didn't like me telling him I was not interested in talking as I had been told that the call would take place within 48 hours of the initial contact. He flat out lied to me and told me he was very sorry, but my number had just appeared on the system. Funny how they knew to ring 24 hours earlier. Second call was about tax rebates and all of the things that the accounts didn't know. Got put through to a second consultant who kept asking me the same questions over and over again - eventually I told him I had to go back to work, I was not interested and to remove me from the calling list. I gets an other call the next day from the girl I spoke to first, I told her that this was harassment and to stop calling. She hung up on me!

I have this number on my bill. I supposedly rang it 12 times in a 1 hour period on the 8th of January. I certainly did not ring it.

5 calls in 2 days, usually from a very heavy accented Indian wanting to discuss something about a home owners government plan, can barely comprehend him. No added to auto reject list!

this number appears to be telemarketers or a scam.
like others I get lots of calls from this number, and when I ask for details like their address or number they get defensive (why do you want this etc, as if I'm the one cold calling them, FFS!).
When I get these types of calls I now ask them to hold the line as my other phone is ringing (or there's someone at the door) and then see how long it takes them to hang up.
If they think they can waste my time, can't see why I can't return the favor.

Just got another call from these folk who clearly don't have a life and nothing better to do than ring a number and hang up when someone answers! Waste of money if you ask me! Thank heavens for Caller ID - at least I can choose whether to pick up or not.
