In a nutshell he identified himself as being from TSA phoning on behalf of Telstra wanting to connect me to the NBN. He, i.e. Grayson D887253 was calling from Brisbane (though the number registered said (08) 6228 4112 which is not the prefix for Queensland), and he became flustered when I said I was already connected because according to his records I wasn't. He came back online after talking to 'someone' claiming the final process was yet to be done by Telstra and he needed to arrange an appointment for a month's time to have them do this at the 'street entrance' (why then make an appointment because they could come at any time). He told me how much my last phone bill was and quoted my name but then asked for my DOB so he could ACCESS my account. Normally DOB is required so they can verify they are speaking to the right person which in itself is just a twist on gaining the information. I then asked him for his name and ID number per se which he gave and then said I could verify his call by phoning 1800 634 055. I'm yet to follow through with Telstra and/or block the number. He has phoned back twice since the original call 1 1/2 hrs ago but has not left a message. On searching the internet I see both numbers I've quoted above have been marked as 'suspicious'.

This male voice claimed to be from Telstra calling to check customer satisfaction. He claimed to look up the account contact details and gave me a name that has nothing to do with our phone account... my name. We have to wonder how that happened but all I can put it down to is that they got my name and number from the "Who-is" service identifying a web address I registered last year. They couldn't possibly have linked my name with a Telstra account because I do not have any mobile phones at all, nor is my name on the household phone or any other utilities account. I would be very careful taking calls from this number or giving them any personally identifiable information. I told him that who I am or what I do is private and none of their business. If they ask your name or already have it, just deny everything.... If they are calling you, it is them that needs to provide proof of identity, not you, you already know who you are but can you believe that they are who they say they are? I usually tell them to send me certified copies of the standard 100 points of ID and a letter from their management authorising the caller to act for and on their behalf. They say calls are being recorded for quality and training purposes, so I guess they think that adds veracity. If I am being recorded in a situation where the company calling wants to use the recordings to increase the quality and productivity of their staff I tell them that I charge $1000 per call and that continuing the conversation will attract an invoice addressed to their bosses. Funny how fast they can hang up when you tell them that.

Australian guy claimed to be from Telstra to check into whether I had the best plan available. Kept asking question after question, after which I told him, there was nothing else he could do for me and I hung up. He tried to keep me on as he said he didn't have enough information yet to work it out, to which I promptly hung up. Shame I hadn't checked the number here first before answering, but I was passing the phone at the time when the call came through, so instinctively picked it up without checking.

Just had yet another call from these people....tried to convince me that I need to transfer to NBN & that Telstra will do a good deal.

Seemed to know when the NBN switch off would happen but I wasn't convinced.

I said that I didn't appreciate getting calls & that I would do something when I was good & ready.

This number rings me at least 4 times a day. I never answer and they don't leave a message. Why this is allowed to continue in this day and age is beyond me. I am so tempted to answer and blow a whistle in their ear. Then maybe they will fk off.

Kept calling me every 10 mins at one stage, just gave them the wrong DOB 31/9 (sept only has 30 days, took a while for them to realise it). If you have caller ID don't bother answering, I will get NBN when I am ready, although did receive a letter from Telstra, the first line was - "We have been trying to contact you" but wont be going with them anyway - they have actually slowed my internet down - I have until Nov 2018 - wish they would get the hint.

Just got a call from this number, let the caller rabbit on without any interruption or sign of interest from me, when it was my turn to speak I paused for an awkward period and then said “sorry, I wasn’t paying any attention, can you repeat that again?” - they hate that’s!

Scam.... pure and simple. Anyone that calls and hangs up has some sort of scam going on. Oh, wait! Since it's a scam, the Australian government should be doing something about it. Oh, wait! They don't care. They are too busy planning their next vacation at taxpayers expense. Oh, well. If you get a call from this number, don't call back, don't bother calling Telstra or the SA government... none of them gives a sh!t. IF they did, it would have been taken care of a long.... LONG.... LOOOONGGGG time ago.

My husband can be a little slow but loves talking about internet connection. Tried to convince him they were scamming as the woman on the end was very convincing that apparently a new modem was being sent for the NBN. My husband kept asking about the copper in the house and if they need to get rid of the copper. Woman couldn't answer. He kept asking her if he can call back. She wouldn't give an answer and kept pushing for details. Sadly he give his detail, our address and all that jazz. Total both total morons.
