I missed a few calls from this number in the last few days. I tried to ring back once and got an announcement saying "disconnected number"??? I received a call from this number again today. A guy with Indian accent keep saying to provide me information about how to save money from government tax as a property owner in VIC. I received some scam calls from one WA landline number before about the same thing. So now it's from a WA mobile?? I clearly told him that I was not interested at all and asked him to stop calling. I blocked the number straight after the conversation!

sick to death of these spam calls,it`s time Telstra or someone does something about it. I pay for my phone for my use only not for idiots who can`t even talk audible English.

Typical Indian scam BS. They're like pests, one disappears and another takes its place.

Someone (from india) called my wife yesterday (from this number 0417 924 844) telling her that she was entitled to tax rebates from he government, then asked her if she owns her own property. She said she wouldn't answer those questions because it was private, he then asked her if her name was Mrs C#cks#cker, which he repeated a number of times, she couldn't believe what she was hearing and asked him what company he was from, and he promptly hung up the phone. She tried to call back but got nothing. I don't understand how they can use these numbers to try and con people, and there is no way to trace them. Its obvious that Optus and Telstra don't give a damn about their customers being subjected to this rubbish time and time again with no way of identifying them. These people know we can't track them, so they just do and say whatever they like, and I'm growing tired of it. From now on, as soon as I receive these overseas calls, I just hang up the phone, they're ALL a waste of time and I'm sick of it. I urge everyone to do the same.

Missed call from mobile 0417 924 844 - called back immediately to hear it say "disconnected".

I put the indian voice on mute and listened to him continually ask if i was there until he hung up. He immediately called back from (08) 9071 2622 so that number is attached to this scam as well.

this is a weird phone call as a lady from the government in brisbane apparently she said she was from. It was about having your personal income and ensuring that you have enough money when you retire. The line wasn't clear. She knew my surname and said that if my combined income is $80,000 something I could do to ensure I have enough. I told her that this phone call from a mobile was a little strange and I asked her where she was calling from and she said Brisbane and I said it's weird that this isn't the Australian Government. I said that I was going to hang up and she said 2 more questions (which I didn't exactly answer the first 2). I said I wanted to speak to her manager and she apparently was getting her manager and then the line hung up. DODGY DODGY.

Just had a phone call from this number. Told the Indian guy I wasn't who he thought I was so he asked if I would marry him, very weird. I have blocked this number

Same scam still going. Heavy Indian accent saying I could get a Tax benefit. When I asked him why he was calling about a Govt benefit from a mobile phone number he stumbled a bit "...Ah..no.." That was when I got tired of putting up with him and hung up.

Sounded like it connected from an overseas call centre, was practically unintelligible, they knew my name and it was something to do with wanting to speak to home owners. I hung up, forgot to ask to be taken off whatever list I'm on.

These calls are actually coming from India. They use a vulnerability in the Signaling System Seven (SS7) protocol that telco's use to pass call information in between carriers.

They are using a mobile number that is no longer in service from Telstra by manipulating the protocol so that it seems the number that you see is 0417 924 844. They are Mumbia based Organised Criminals specialising in Cyber Crime. They are merciless once they have your personal information and will not just rip you off but will steal your identity. Do Not Deal in Any Way with these people.
