26/10/16 No answer when I pick up.

Dodgy phone call from recorded message (03) 6437 2749 that gave me a number to return supposedly to Centrelink Head Office in Canberra- (02) 8607 8601) After three attempts to return the call I got some twit that wanted to know my licence number etc and was trying to work out what sort of pension I get. He kept putting me on hold (sounded like he was in a dingy dark place which is probably appropriate for this type of vermin scumbag. When he found out that I get a huge DVA pension of $6 a fortnight he seemed to loose interest pretty quick - how the hell does this creep know enough about me to know that I am in receipt of such huge wealth every fortnight - please tell me our taxpayer dollars funding federal agencies go some way to protecting our information. Be nice to think people remembered that you get an honest day pay for an honest days work and have no need to pray on people. I feel sorry for people who get sucked in by this because they probably only do receive a pension and are at risk.

I received a call from this mob today, on answering i received a recorded message stating that it was Centrelink calling, they have tried to contact me on a number of occasions with both phone calls, emails and letters wanting me to contact them about back payments, they gave me a number and asked me to contact the Centrelink Head office in Canberra, I called this number only to realize that it was a scam, I hung up on this person only to be called back and abused, I contacted Centrelink, they were aware of this scam, had done nothing about it but did have a long list of complaints about the calls. I suggested that they do something about it, like contact the AFP.

Just got the call today calling our work number. Stupid, at least tried to call residential, ok?

What a disgrace! Surely Telstra or The Federal Police should be able to put a stop to those scammers. They target vulnerable people.

Received a call on my mobile from (03) 6437 2749 and heard a recorded message that claims it's from Centrelink and telling me that pension rates have gone up and that if a receive a Centrelink pension to press 1 or if I don't to press 2. I don't receive any benefit from Centrelink and I think it is a scam.

I just received the automated message call, supplying me with the same reference number - looks like we're on the same so-called pension lol - Fools! Like yourself, I'm not on any pension either!

Woman claimed to be from Centrelink indicated there was a problem with my account & wanted all my Centrelink information.......NOT a chance, bloody low life should be charged by the police why do Telco's permit these people to have phone line when they know it's a scam..

Got recorded message re centrelink or pension payments. I don't get any. Asked to press a number on phone. I hung up. If this number is identifiable surely Telstra can track it as to who owns/pays the phone bill.

Call is an automated message claiming that my centrelink pension rate is increasing and I have backpayments that are owed to me. Told me to call the Centrelink office in Canberra because all claims have been transferred there. The number they gave me was (02) 6064 2005 and to quote the same reference number many of you have already listed - 080456. Nice try fellas, not on a Centrelink pension!

Dept Human Services ? Press 1 or 2 re the pension but I did nothing and they hung up, this was at 5.20 pm .Rang the no. But no answer and Telstra replied "private number try again later". We are in our Eighties and obviously elderly people are the majority with land lines and we are constantly targeted with scam calls.

They rang and left a message to contact them. I thought it was a bit fishy and this has been verified after checking this very useful website. I have now blocked the number - I suggest everyone else do the same.

Had phone call from this number today - I am in Melbourne and it looks like Melbourne number. It had a recorded message about Pension and the rates have changed if I receive Pension press 1 if not press 2 or listen to hear it again. I just hung up. I don't receive a pension so obviously fake and reading all the above comments it definitely is. Agree why can't something be done about these people it is beyond a joke.
