Like others comments, I too received a call but the caller was a recording purportedly from Human Services @ Centrelink and advising that they had been tried on many occasions to contact me but I have not replied. I was given an application number and a return contact phone number: (02) 6146 2664.
Being a recording, it was not possible to question the caller.
What is wrong with these people?
Selecting the vulnerable in our society to play their silly games and worry and/or frighten them.
What heroes!!!!!!

Its a scam. .. don't answer it and NEVER give any personal information whatsoever. Any government department won't phone, they'll send an official letter and you can always check and verify the address and phone number by looking in the white pages or going to that department personally.

This number rang me three times, saying that he was from Centrelink and that my pension was going to be cut if I didn't give them information. My problem with all this, is how are they getting this information, it is supposed to be private, The problem is I am not the pension recipient, but my number is a contact, these people have a lot of our information which they should not have, they need to be investigated. Why can they not stop these phone calls? I get scam calls also for Solar panels and Tax rebates all the time, they drive me crazy, mostly Indians and Asians. We have the phone numbers, why can't they investigate these numbers, and who they are registered under, and have them charged.

Called approx. 12h15 today. Recorded message advising that they were missing some paperwork I was supposed to have sent them. Gave me a case number and a number to ring to provide my details. Called the number (02) 8607 5068 and it was answered as Centrelink, Department of Human Services. Quite a clever attempt at whatever they were trying to do

Answered a call from this number today to hear an authentic sounding recorded message telling me the call was from the Department of Human Services for Centrelink, asking to select option 1 if "you are currently receiving payments" OR Option 2 if not. The message replayed without any input from me, so I hung up. It's NOT likely this call was genuine as I am NOT a Centerlink customer.

Thank goodness for this page. I was already suspicious when the message kept cutting out. My guess is whoever had the time cut and pasted parts of a real message from Centrelink into a new one. Also all my letters are electronic so I know for a fact that the many times they tried to contact me was ridiculous.
Why do this? What do they get out of it except for irritated people who already don't want to answer the stupid phone!

Answered a call from this number today to hear an authentic sounding recorded message telling me the call was from the Department of Human Services for Centrelink, asking to select option 1 if "you are currently receiving payments". Seeing I am not a customer and have not been one since before they even became Centrelink I was immediately highly suspicious and held on to see if I could talk to someone to find out how this call had been made to me in error. As I had not selected an option the message ended as did the call.

The first incidence of this number was reported on this website back in Nov. 2015, it's now one year later and Ive just had a message left on my answering machine similar to the above Centerlink complaints. This begs the question what are the relevant authorities doing about it. How many pensioners and welfare recipients have been duded by this scum. Surely these bogus operations can be put out of business in a few weeks at least.
