Scammer pretending to be from Centrelink or ATO saying that you are owed money by government. They say you need to buy an Apple iTunes card to send to them a deposit or processing fee to get 'your' money. Luckily I caught this out before my elderly parents got scammed but they did have presence of mind to tell them they'd call back once they got the card which is why I have the number.

Yesterday (6.9.2016) at 12:30 pm a recorded message said it was Centrelink and that I hadn't answered numerous letters and phone calls. I was given an application number and told to ring the number urgently as my file had been sent to Canberra. The number was engaged when I tried to call them today. I have just spoken to rep from Centrelink and they have had NO record of any calls or application numbers on my file...and that this call was most probably a scam. Centrelink has been notified!

Person pretending to be from Centrelink left a message, saying I had ignored previous requests & my file had gone to Canberra Im to call & quote reference no# 080456. I have been underpaid since December & am owed $2250.65c & from next payment Im to receive an extra $225.96 pf. This money is due to a policy change by Malcolm Turnball. Im to go to Centrelink at 4.30pm & give a George Bailey $500 to get my file returned to local branch & to get the backpay as a cheque. I could use a credit card if I didnt have the cash. If I didnt pay today then my benefit would be cut off. I have notified the police in Deniliquin.

I got a phone call from the above number at 1.30. I may be 71 but I am not silly. I wrote the phone number and the reference number down. Then I googled the phone number and thanks to sites like this one I found out it was a scam. I still might ring DHA so I can be added to the list of people complaining.

Claiming that they are from Centrelink, buy an Apple Itune card from Coles $300 and enter details etc.. someone will bring a cheque to your house following day of nearly $2,000.

I work for DHS and have had loads of calls from ppl worried about this scam. cenlink would never make outbound calls and then ask for personal numbers like bank deets, CRN's or other details. would only ever ask for name DOB (if calling outbound).
I suggest ppl never give personal details out over phone, only ever call the Centrelink 13 numbers and never do anything so silly as go and BUY iTunes cards.

The same as the above people have reported, they asked for my CRV number and my address, which I gave them. When I looked up the number I got this website. Scam!

I got a recorded message from Centrelink telling me that I haven't responded to their calls and was given a number to ring and an application number. Suspecting a scam, I confirmed it on the internet. To all those who were ripped off, I hope the government tracks down this garbage.

I have my 'phone on answering machine all the time, and never pick it up unless the caller identifies themselves. I've been getting heaps of hang ups recently, so this morning I stupidly picked up the call. It was the recorded message purportedly from Centrelink. I followed the instructions and called Canberra on this number and spoke to "Adam". I was asked to buy a $400 iTunes card, which I stupidly #2 did. Got home, "Michael" rang back and I gave him the number (I've never bought an iTunes card before, so had no idea how they worked, but I do now!). I questioned a lot of what these 2 guys were saying and I have to say they were very convincing and never hesitated in their replys. The only plus that came out of this is Woolworths had 20% off iTunes cards, so I'm out of pocket $320 instead of $400!!!!

My elderly father had a call from (supposedly) "centre link" telling him they tried calling him many times and he must call (02) 6064 2005) asap and provide a application no ???425.

I have taught my father to never give out any numbers or personal details, al;ways to call me and I will find out what its about. Lucky I did.

When you first ring it takes a long time to answer.
Then it cuts out.
And it also comes up with a message (Due to connection difficulties this call cannot be connected).
Once I got through they were not able to provide me with their website, email or mangers contact details.
Definitely a scam.

Call Scam Watch on 1300 795 995.

They will explain how dodgy this is.

Definitely an inside job.
How do they know your situation with CentreLink?
They knew mine.
Yes same scam as above, but govt does nothing about it as usual.

Got a call from the same number saying the same message as others, they said i had $2545 in back payments coming my way then at the end of the call they hit me up for $350 to be paid into there account before the funds can be released. i laughed at them and told them there nothing but scammers. we sent it to a team that are tracking them down as they use fake online numbers to make people think there in Australia.
Please report this to AFP ASAP

Thanks
