Two scams in one day from this number. One the tax money scam, the other a funeral insurance scam. They don't ever try.

We got a call in Kingston Tasmania as well about 1.30 pm today. Nobody answers.If you let it go through to an answering machine it will disconnect immediately.The ISP offers an alternative line number or silent number but what happens when several hundred people request for an other number? ISPs should be able to stop this. And so should the "do not call" people.

Surley the telco's should be able to be able to shut these phone numbers down. WE are on the do not call register but still these con callers are still able to bypass govt regulations. Dont figure.

Here in Perth we just had the same call - what an awful awful scam - where do these people get off - why cant they earn their money like the rest of us...

mum got a call from this number (02) 9191 9703 saying from Tax Department for refund of $7600
wanted her to go to post office to get western union money order form, call them back & they would help her fill in the form.
They said that under payment of pension over many years.
This is a horrible scam attacking our elderly - who are vulnerable because they don't have much !!
Please catch these people and lock them up before they do anymore harm to others.

Just got a call from them, claiming to be from the Taxation Office Reimbursement section, telling me that they were a free service provided to inform people that they had unclaimed money. All I needed to do was to call the ATO in Canberra on (02) 9191 9701. I did not call this number.
One thing that really surprised me was that they didn't give up. I was suspicious from the start and was asking them to give me my TFN so I could verify that they were who they said they were - they gave me a perfectly plausible reply about security. I even said that I was suspicious that they were a scam - they still kept going - I was the one who ended up hanging up. My point... because of their persistence, I think more people may be sucked into this one :(

Call received by my mother today advising she was owed $7600 from Central Taxation Dept. She was given (02) 9191 9703 to call and to send through a Western Union money transfer form to get her money. Thankfully she rang me and I called them. Indian sounding person on the phone, would only say he worked in the Central Taxation Office based in Canberra. Asked him why the ATO would get people to send through a Western Union money transfer? Refused to answer. He hung up after I told him this was a scam.

These scammers called my mother this morning. Said that she could pick up her payment from the Canberra Office, or if that's too inconvenient use WU at her local Post Office.

Scammer, claiming to be from the tax office, as soon as my son, who answered the call, said he was going to ring them back after he had verified the number, the Indian guy hung up.
Poisonous thieving scum. No other words for them.

phoned me several times. they either hang up before I can answer or there's no one there when I answer.

Claiming to be the Tax dept, and I was getting a refund . Didn't have my name, as soon as I asked where did you get this number from - they hung up.

Complete scam. Why aren't the authorities doing anything ?

Same thing happen to me a girl called Jessica smith and guy named Robert lamb they called Thursday I play with them it was funny not silly only time u get money back is when u do tax they called on two number(02) 6100 3872 and (02) 9191 9703 please be careful guys can't trust any one these day

My husband also just received this call offering a huge amount owing to him. Funny enough it was for $7600 also! I feel sorry for the elderly and other more trusting people out there

I received telephone call form Australian Taxation Office, Canberra and saying Tonny Abott's Tax Reimbursement which I am eligible to receive $7600. He gave me this telephone number (02) 9191 9703 to call him back with my full details. While we were discussing I researched his member in this website www.whocallsme.com and found out was well known scammer's telephone number. I told him off that "you are a scammer", and then he hanged up. Be careful guys !!! you can lost lump sum of money in a minute.

This is a scam!! My dad rang me telling me he had a guy call him today from the ATO saying he had a refund of $7600. The guy had an Indian accent. He gave dad a case number to quote & a phone number to ring (02) 9191 9703.

My mother had exactly same thing happen. Total scam!!!

Just got this call, reported it to the ATO. Nearly had me until he congratulated me on my tax return! Since when would that happen!
