They appear to be either still at it or at it again. I just received a call from a lady with a very thick accent claiming to be from the ATO. I apparently had a large sum of money owed to me and I had to ring (02) 6100 3872 to speak to a senior supervisor to arrange to get my money back. She gave me reference number and everything!!

Just called a friend claiming to be from the ATO with a $7,600 refund. Unusual questions and when she phoned Accountant there is nothing owing to her. SCAM!

they are still at it. Just received a call that our business was due a refund of $7000 or so, I wasn't really listening but let her spend the money on the phonecall. Good luck thinking that this will work.

Just called my parents saying they were from ATO. called back and kept me on hold for 5 minutes. After checking the number on the web it came up as a scam.

They've been busy little beavers - the ID number is up to 2447xxxx now.
I've got caller ID and this is the number they're calling from!

I received the same call today, also answered questions sarcastically , but she continued, after they gave me the reference number and ph number to call, I asked the lady to write down my reference number also, I had to repeat it about 4 times but eventually she got it when I asked her to read it back to me . I told her to write down ID10T and read it back....she hung up on me .....

Baloney! Do not give any private details. $7,600 credit was promised. Not sure if you have to go to Pakistan to collect!!

Same scam as above, ringing me on my unlisted number, but they had my name... As soon as I queried why I had not been sent a letter about this and why the ATO didn't just transfer the $7600 to me they lost interest. Then I Googled this number to confirm what I already suspected...

You can tell they do not understand sarcasm, I responded the entire conversation with tongue in cheek answers.. I was given this number to ring when I refused to accept any information without them sending out paperwork for me to ring, and I wanted a "friend in the ATO" to confirm all their information. I was also given a Identification ID to quote when I rang this number to speak to the Senior Manger of Tax Reimbursement.

How dumb do they think we are??

Received a call on my private landline number today from a man with an Indian accent supposedly named John Harvey from the Canberra ATO, claiming I was entitled to $7,600 if I rang (02) 6100 3872 before 5pm.
Checked this website before I called. Suprise Suprise.
John tried to verify my name and details which I didnt give. The ATO knows more about me than I do. Once I stated I knew it was a scam they hung up.

Received a call on my private landline number today from a women with an Indian accent supposedly named Veronica Smith, claiming I was entitled to $7,600 if I rang (02) 6100 3872 before 5pm. I suspected it was a scam upfront and tried to question her as to why I had simply not received such a large refund when I last lodged my tax return, and enquiring as to the specifics of why I was entitled to a refund She mumbled throughout the conversation saying that every time I shopped I had taxes deducted by Centrelink and was eligiible for a refund.....when I continued to push her saying this did not make sense she couldn't get off the phone quick enough and just kept talking over the top of me saying enjoy my good fortune and prosperity. Have reported this scam to the ATO. BEWARE!!!

We had the same call but it Jessica Smith with a really bad Accent claiming if we called before 5pm we could claim $7800

i just received that call too ,i asked him to give the phone to someone else
is the office and i spoke to sofi. the toll free # i tried n no one is answering

Robert Peterson phoned me this morning. I thought that was an unusual name for an Indian. Also never heard of the tax office giving back money.
Once again $7,600 to be reimbursed, gave me this phone number and a Case File number. I just emailed everyone on my email list to beware.

Exactly the same claims but the guys name was Robert Patterson. Bloody crooks!

Number was given to me as a "Toll Free" ATO number to begin a claim of $7600.00 reimbursement from the ATO by a person claiming to be "ROBERT LANG" of the ATO (?). It sounded too good to be true !
