St George representative calling to follow up on an unfinished credit card application and to ask if I had any questions. After saying I was just still thinking about it he was courteous and reminded me to call the help centre if I had any issues. Took 46 seconds.

Caller: Westpac I received call and verified who i was by full name, said they were asking about loan ending in ---- . When i asked them what type of loan as i'm not near phone and have 3, she said hold, a few mins later she came back and said your mortgage home loan, I relied i know its that i mean what type, duh, spoil, pohl etc etc , AND explained im a former westpac employee and familiar with screen which shows what type of loan it is, she still couldn't state the type and then i said where are you she said in call centre i said where, she said near you in adelaide, i said why then is it a 02 number which is now, then she hung up ...... SOOOO IF IT WAS A genuine Westpac staff member her asian accent was very broken and she DID NOT know anything about loans etc or their systems and needs retraining,,,, OH AND BY THE WAY i rang them back 4 times and it says Optus advises that the number has been disconnected !!!!!!

Caller: Westpac This number is a legit number from a call centre servicing numerous banks, such as Wespac and St George. It is only an outwards service number, such as a staff member calling you back or putting you into a different section, but customers can't call into this number.

i was on a call to Westpac but was on hold then i got an SMS to call (02) 9155 0000. I hung up on Westpac & then called this phone number but the result was disconnected. Just doesn't seem right so i would suggest any calls from it be verified by asking callers full name & staff ID number, then call 132 032 & ask to speak to the person. I dont know if St George operate the same way though.

Caller: St George This is not a scam. Fraudulent transactions were being made on my account as someone had obtained my card details. I didn't take the call or respond to the text messages being sent to me by St George from 0429 933 739, however, I called St George on 133 330 to confirm it was legit.

I missed the call, and when I rang back it said it was disconnected. So I rang St George on their normal number 133330 and they checked my account and said there was no one trying to contact me about anything - this suggested to both me and the representative that the number is likely a scam. I would treat it as such and ring them back on their advertised number as suggested by others.

This was Westpac returning my call in regards to a loan application. Due to all these complaints, the Who Called Me app blocked the call from getting through! Frustrating.

This number called me at 8.19 am. I didn't recognize the number so didn't pick up. Tried to call back but said its was disconnected. Although I am waiting on a call from St. George re a recent complaint....hmmmm. I'm confused as to some are saying it's a sham number, yet others are saying it's legit ....confusing !

Caller: (02) 9155 0000 I missed 4 calls from this number on my work phone at 1:46pm, 1:47pm, 1:50pm, and 1:51pm. I have just been on a call earlier and thought it was someone calling from there, but I searched up the number just to be sure as no voicemails were left. This site told me the number was from Westpac / St George. I didn't recall ever contacting them from this phone.
On my missed calls liust it says the phone number is from Sydney, NSW.
I called the number back and an automatic voice message said that the number is temporarily unavailable.

Caller: Westpac In my case it was a Legit call. But genuine numbers can be faked or "spoofed" by scammers (see some comments saying this was happening while appearing to be from this genuine number) only reveal your banking details when YOU calling THEM on the number you got from you bank, not here..... If it's Westpac use the Westpac phone banking number. Numbers can be fake if they were made from. Network other than Telstra, and as their own website says, it's a growing global problem. Mea while, welcome to Australia, the most scammed population in the world, with some of the worst scamming protections. It's 2024 and too little too late, but at least it's slowly getting batter.
