I received two calls from this number the other day. The first call they left a voicemail claiming to be calling about the credit card I applied for (I actually did apply for a credit card so not sure how they find this out). In the voicemail they referenced an incorrect reference number as to the one on the legitimate email I’ve for from the application. They’ve since tried calling again. Be careful

Missed call on Friday 1201. Message left telling me to call them re my application for increased credit limit which I had applied for and to call a particular 1300 number & gave a reference to quote. The 1300 number is not mentioned on the Virgin website so I will be calling a number that is to find out if the call was genuine but I suspect it is.

Legit call, applied for a credit card online and Citi called to query some details in my proof of income. Their ID verification process didn't require me to give the full personal info (just the first letter), and then they asked questions which could only have been possible from reviewing my credit card supporting documentation. After the call I received notification my credit card application had been approved via email.

got this call at 8:30pm. Never had a credit card or any finance. And for a late call like that i would say it's very likely a scammer

It’s legit even though it sounds like a robot. Ring back through the official bank website number though - always

Received a recorded message on this number claiming to be from Citibank alerting me to suspect credit card activity. They left a 1300 number to call which I didn't - instead googled a Citi bank security number and called that instead - the call was legit.
I suspect for those recipients of dodgy calls from this number it may have been scammers spoofing a legit number.

Message from Citibank - unable understand as she spoke too fast (common for scammers). I called the number on the back of my credit card and my access had been frozen. Unable to forward my call to Citibank Security as they were too busy so she said try again "later".

Super scary, these Scammers called my mobile number & had my unlisted home phone number. Kept calling trying to confirm who I was - had my initials only but not my first name which rang alarm bells straight away. Said by Citicard Card had been hacked - problem is don't have one, so 100% for sure this is a Scam - but watch out it's a highly organised one.

Posing as Citibank trying to phish for credit card details. Citibank won't do this type of call. Contacted Citibank directly to confirm. It's a scam.

Received missed calls from this number claiming to be a security concern on my credit-card, on both my home number and my mobile within a minute of each other. I called back and got hung up on. I called again and got someone who explained it was a security threat on my credit-card (I have another bank but Citibank do their credit-cards), and that a merchant had been hacked so everyone who regularly dealt with them was being contacted. I didn't give my card number and explained that I wasn't prepared to do so because the number didn't match any on my statement, so I'd call back on a number I had as I had no proof of who I was speaking to. They recommended that action. When I called the number on my bank's statement, the phone index recording was identical, and when I spoke to the customer service person she said a merchant had been hacked and I had recently shopped with them. She stated my personal details, not me, and didn't ask me to confirm anything inappropriate. Card cancelled, new card issued (I had the digital one instantly). So I do believe it was Citibank; that when I called my bank on their number it connected through Citibank, and that's why it was a different number that I didn't recognise. But the onus is on Citibank to give the caller some identifying proof that they are who they say they are - not the other way around.

Phishing. Claimed to be verifying an employee's details as part of a reference check. Told me call being recorded. I answered some generic questions, then they became a little suspicious as the questions became more detailed. I asked them to email their request but was told me 'one more question'. They then proceeded to try and ask several, so I told them I will only answer emailed questions. Never heard from them again.
