You need to call your card issuer directly. Not the number that called you. It is a call centre number that is one way calls only.

LEGITAMITE. Received a call stating the from Coles Mastercard Security Team. They said they had info that my card details had been compromised. The accent was not very clear. They wanted my permission to block my card and transfer the details to a new card. I was not convinced and would not agree nor give her any info. She was polite and said to call the number on the back of my card if I felt uncertain about the call. We ended the call.
I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed their security team had called and left a note on my file. Apparently my card details were picked up from an illegal terminal scanner and they want to cancel my card and issue a new one. This is what I did and it is all good now. No issues. They did a great job and I am very grateful that I have this service to assist me before being shocked by illegal transactions. All happy here :) Its legit. Call your card issuer direct if you are unsure. Dont just post a comment here saying scam without following thru further.

It is legitimate. They called regarding security concerns on my Qantas credit card. I hung up as it does come across as a scam but when I called the Qantas Money number directly they confirmed the concerns and cancelled my card.

It’s a scam. I don’t even have a Citibank account. Lady hung up when I challenged her to be fraudulent.

Legit.

All they did was tell me my Virgin Money (another Citibank subsidiary) credit card was being cancelled today due to a security breach. They then told me the address to which they'd be mailing the new card, and that I'd have to organise an alternative method of payment for any direct debits due in the next 5-7 working days.

At no point did the lady on the phone ask me to provide - or even confirm - any information. She just rattled off my name and mailing address, advised of the reissue, and that was the end of that. For that reason, I'd say this isn't a scam.

I worked in call centres when I was at uni (way better money than retail or food service!); banks often outsource these sorts of jobs to third party call centres, so the primary customer service centre won't be aware they exist, or recognise the phone number if you give it to them.

Caller: Qantas Cards

I can understand why people think it may be fraudulent. I did too. The message said it was Qantas card security. The two numbers they gave me to call back on don't come back to Qantas (or any other bank) when Googled. So I rang them using the number on the card and they confirmed it was them and their had been unusual activity.
Having said the scammers can spoof any number to appear when they call you. So always make contact directly using known safe numbers.

It is legitimate... Suncorp use Citibank for their Visa card. If you phone Suncorp and get put through to Credit Card Services, they confirm that they were trying to phone. Perhaps if you phone Citibank directly, they won't know anything about the call as you have a Suncorp credit card not a citibank credit card. I presume that the Suncorp credit cards are handled by a separate section of Citibank.

Just had a call from this number - 2pm on a Sunday afternoon (WA). I didn't answer as it's similar to other numbers that were clearly spam. Who the hell calls from a bank on Sundays? I think it's suss; they did not leave a message and if they really want to speak to me they have my email address.

I have no idea if this number is a scam but it sure sounded like it. The woman didn't say where she was calling from. She knew my full name and the last 4 digits of my credit card, which she referred to as a "Visa or Mastercard" - she doesn't know?! I hung up. She called back immediately and repeated her script, saying the card had been hacked and she wanted to send a new one. I hung up again before she asked for more personal info.

I called my credit card provider - the number on the website for stolen cards. After confirming my ID she "checked on something" and called back (from a similar but not identical number - but both these numbers were different from the one that initially called) saying the card was compromised and she'd put a stop on it. New card coming in 3 days, leaving me with no way to buy groceries.

I told her FYI the initial call sounded like a scam. I've no idea what to make of it. For all I know, my compromised details ended up in that first caller's hands and she wanted to extract more info in order to use it... while at the same time my cc provider noticed the problem and stopped my card. Or the first call was genuine and the woman I spoke to afterwards was doing what the first woman tried to do - stop the card and send a new one.

Either way, there's no suspicious transactions on my card and I received no SMS about any of this, nor does the website indicate a problem with my account when I log in.

I'm appalled that my cc provider is unable to contact me without sounding like a scam.

Said they were calling from Qantas Money. Knew my credit card number. Something was off and I saw that the number had reviews saying it's a scam call. The caller was unable to confirm my personal information to confirm they were not a scammer so I terminated the call. They did not call back.
