Like everyone, I too was suspicious about the (electronic) american accent and nature of the call left on the answering machine and was suspecting a scam.
My elderly mother heard the message and told me when I got home.

appears the scam is still going on, had a message on my phone, rang ATO help number to enquire, ATO have taken details to lodge investigation against these allegations. ATO advise not to contact these people

Just got the same message and the number was 61528631 and his name was Andrew Watson nasty man had me really upset

got same fake message, some people should get a life

Yep, had the call today left message on answering machine said I needed to contact them urgently as my name was on a document which involved tax fraud. I called back, no answer, nothing, so it is definitely a scam!!

Got the same message today regarding being charged with Tax Fraud and Other Urgent Fraud Matters in a Serious Legal Case. Knew it was a load of you know what straight away. I'm so tempted to ring them on the number provided and string them along for half an hour .... but... nah.

Had a call from these doochbags today. Kinda caught me out a little as I had recently lodged my tax return. I would like to meet these guys and teach them some respect. As above the guy had a robotic almost American accent and the message said that I had a lawsuit against me and that I should call or get my attorney to call re the charges. So beware that these guys are out there and ready to scam

Hi. My elderly parents have been receiving calls from this number for a couple of months and just ignore them. But the aggression level and threats are escalating, luckily the last time the call went to voice mail so they didn't have to deal with the person.
So if you know someone who is vulnerable or may be intimidated by calls like this, please circulate this number at let them know it's a scam.

Yes we got the phone call too. Called back and it went no where, guys it is scam so don't give any details.

I faced the same problem today. Probably a scamster. Next time I will tell him to stuff a baton up his arse

I had same msg on my voice mail but American/Canadian accent. I knew straight away this is an scam call.

Had the exact same message today and referred to us the same way as above. The number they want you to call back on is different to the one they called on (02) 6140 3411 put this number in reverse lookup and it comes up unknown

Received a call from this number in the afternoon. Caller claimed to be from the ATO and said that there are 3 federal charges against us, an that we are being in investigated. In order for us to be cleared of the charges, we have to call the given number.
Extremely suspicious! Lots of static on the line; caller had an (Indian) accent and addressed our name as it appeared in the whitepages.
Tried calling back to yell at the person, but it was diverted to some recorded music.
