I received a call this morning and told me his is Alexander lee,say to me the same thing.

Received the exact same phone call and message from Alexander Lee - this is the 2nd time. Have looked this number up on other sites and this number has been doing the same thing for the past 18 months.

Same drill... Had "ALEXANDER LEE" from the Australian Tax office with a legal complaint against my name for Tax avoidance. HUGE SCAM...

I had a call from this number 8.33am 1st August 2017 claiming to be Alexander Lee from ATO requesting me to return call to (02) 6064 2059 re taxation fraud. My tax is done through an agent & ATO do not have my number.

Same happened to me today
I asked the guy to tell me what my TFN is to confirm his identity
He hung up
Foolish man

Scam pretending to be the ATO. Reported them to the ATO scam department, blocked this number. Have blocked a different number threatening the same thing.

Hope these scammers are arrested themselves soon so I don't keep getting scamming calls from them!

tax scam

these people rang me too around 11th may 2016 and annoyed me. they said they were from the taxation office. my accountant told me the ato would never do this.

18th of April had a similiar message left on my phone as well. Called the number back and the man had an Indian accent. I asked to speak to a person with an Australian accent. He went away I could hear talking. A man came back to the phone and said sorry. I told him off.

I called back this number and they claimed to be the Australian Tax Office. Yeah right.

Have received same message for three days. Reported it to Scamwatch and blocked the caller.

Yep, they scammers. Firstly the ATO would never phone you. They would always use mail, be it ordinary post, registered mail, courier etc. Secondly, they are too professional to go this far without first contacting you to sort out any problems. Thirdly, they always try to sort out any mistakes in a very amicable manner. My experience with the ATO is simply the fact that they are probably the most knowledgeable and helpful of all government agencies

My housemate has had two messages left on the Message Bank from this number, a male voice with non-Australian accent warning of legal action (no reason given), a possible arrest warrant (no charge), tax fraud (not possible in my housemate's case).

We don't know what it's about, but given the number of other people reporting the same, it'd have to be a scam.
