This number has been calling for the last week and hanging up. My Panasonic cordless home phone has a block function which is great though these scammers regularly change numbers, so I google the number and then block it. I've been told by the telstra nuisance calls line that they are often voip numbers from overseas and are not real numbers and are not traceable?
I have caller id and rarely answer calls from private caller, overseas, and 02 numbers or any that aren't recognised. It's appalling that I can't answer my own phone safely.

they use telstra White pages. If your phone number is not silent it's in the White Pages. Only way to stop most is to pay for your number to *silent* or the Government DNC register but they then just change numbers when people complain. Why would Telstra stop them when it makes money for them or any other telco

Getting too many of these SCAM CALLS! This one at 6.45pm had a jumble of female voice from what sounded like a call centre with other voices in the background, very scratchy but hung up on me before I could tell them where to go!

I have received several calls from this number even at 10:20pm. They don't say anything rather than "hello". I have enough!

Just had a call from this number. The guy pretended to be from Telstra and that he wanted to talk about a problem with our phone and internet line.
To which I replied. Bullf*cking sh*t mate. I'm on both my phone and computer right now so you can take this sh*t and f*ck off.... He got the message

I think this is the second instance that we have been harassed by this number. It just happened - a man kept calling us, first under the pretence of the Telstra employee informing us of a hack... My mum likes to mess around with scam artists such as these but once it stopped being fun the conversation took a turn. The caller first assumed my mum was male, and then that she was a gay male and started sexually harassing her (talking about his genitals, would she have sex with his dog etc;) I pretended to be her wife for a minute before giving up the game and telling him I was his daughter. Suddenly he only wanted to speak to me, asking everything about me and if I wanted to have sex with him. Most of these interactions were recorded. Each time I hung up he rang back straight away, the last time he called I said I was ringing the police. It's been maybe 10 minutes so far. Fingers crossed he doesn't call again.

What you need to do is ring Telstra and get them to put a trace on your phone for 30 days. This is a free service. If we get many people doing this, there is a chance they will be tracked and prosecuted. Telstra has the technology to trace these calls to the end user.

what happens if you ask Telstra to investigate i.e. list them as unwelcome call and they are harassing you because you asked them to stop and they don't.

hi brian, if it is from overseas, why don't you let it cost them a bit and see if they continue to call i.e. either hang up while they are talking and keep doing it each time they call again or say, "do you mind waiting on the line for me?", leave the phone off the hook and go watch T.V or go to the bathroom, have shower or go out to dinner and they will probably not do it again. or if they are scamming, inform the scamming watchdog who usually investigate I think.

a male told me, if we send you some free samples would you try them, i said no, i'm not interested and he was continuing on about maybe you would like to try in the future but I let the phone cut out, I'm not a liar so what's the use of making excuses and arguing, just let the phone cut out, that's it.

I have an unlisted number with Telstra and have been bombarded from calls from this numbers and about another 6 different numbers. It only started when I joined Telstra. I had a listed number for 10 years, never received a call. I have no doubt that unlisted numbers at Telstra have been made available. Lodged 3 complaints with Telstra already.
