Called from (03) 7045 5093. “John Martin” employee number JM9748 was coming next week to replace cables and modem. Until I refused to give “Travis Scott” employee number TS8017 my mobile phone number. He then said landline and mobile phones at this address will be disconnected in the next 24hours.

Called my 84 year old mother and claimed to be from NBN and advised a technician would be at her house on a set date. Then told her his ID #DF00189 (David) however he did not know her telephone number (which he had just called her on). Said that Richard Martin would be the technician ID #RM00786 and will be installing things? Prior to the “install”, Mum will receive 3 packages - 7 gen modem, 12m fibre optic cable and 2 cordless telephones. My mother hung upon him thank goodness but then received numerous calls from different locations which she did not answer. These people are next level scammers preying on vulnerable people!,

Caller: STUART FROM 001166852514

First called from (02) 5303 1529 said to my wife he wanted to make an appointment for us to get the Tech JOHN MARTIN to come and upgrade copper to fibre, she told him to call back when I was home at 6pm. he called back from 0011668502514 could be some digits missing. Booked the appointment, gave me 1800 687 626 as a contact, then wanted my mobile number, I said NBN already have my number I will not give it to him, he said hold on, then came back and said give me the last 4 digits, I said if you don't have my number what is the use of the last 4 digits, I said "YOU should be giving ME the last 4 digits if you have my number" He hung up

Two different people with hard to understand accents called, saying a parcel would be delivered tomorrow containing modem, cables, etc, but said don't open it because it is for the installation the day after tomorrow. We hadn't scheduled any installation or upgrade, so mum assumed it was a scam so hung up. They called back several times insisting that she needed the upgrade otherwise her phone would be cut off for 90 days. They quoted phone number 1800 687 626 (legit NBNCO number), along with the caller's name John Martin and his id JM9748, which they said mum should write down. Mum is pretty scam-savvy and said this was one of the more convincing ones.
I used online chat with mum's telco to verify if they had anything planned that we weren't aware of, which they didn't.
NBNCO support business hours end at 6pm, and the first scammer called after 6pm. The timing is probably on purpose so if potential victims try to call NBNCO, they get a real message, but can't speak to anyone until the next day. Meanwhile the scammers call back shortly after.

Caller: on our land line an Indian pretending to work for NBN

Caller tried to book in an appointment with a Peter Wilson to replace a modem gave me the 1800 687 626 for the contact. I led him along but he cut off as soon as I said I have no mobile. I am tired of these people phoning at least once a week. This use of the internet is absolutely non productive and and a great expense to business and governments. Why do we have to contend with such nonsense.See they have been doing this for over a year. Put a stop to this rubbish. The internet might be of some use but over time it is getting worse, what a faulty product it is. Good inventions are meant to help the world.

Caller: “Alex Martin” from NBN-Indian speaking.

Told me that because of the floods, NBN is helping customers to check their NBN speed. Wanted me to go to my modem and report how many lights were on. There would be no cost to me. Told “Alex” my husband is a computer engineer, I am no good with technology and my husband will call back. “Alex” told me it might be difficult as his colleagues were currently assisting other customers.

Rang this number which IS a NBN number- the recorded message re scams advised that NBN doesn’t make unsolicited calls- any contact would be in writing.

So! Dodged a bullet here!

same old deal, said he was form NBN ( I was an NBN tech for 8 years and 25 years at Telstra before this) I quizzed him and asked for call back number 1800 687 626 ha ha.
NBN, Telstra and the government have the technical knowledge ,process and legal power to trace and catch these people but won't

Caller: Claims to be from NBN Co

Caller rang from a number which had caller ID hidden. Claims to be from NBN Co and asks whether our internet speeds have been affected by unusual activity. On querying, he suggests calling this 1800 number to verify his call and also offers a website you can search on Google. Scam.

Had modem problems over a few months with my NBN thru Telstra, but all good for past few weeks! The received an unsolicited call from people (Alex Martin) purporting to be upgrading my NBN line / wanted my internet download speed & said they would improve. After asking me to log into nbnupgrade.unaux.com, which is a highly suspect site - though purports to be NBN (& includes the genuine NBN 1800 687 626 number). Scroll to bottom of page & it's nothing to do with NBN, with US addresses. While he was on hold, i rang my son - an IT manager @ a school, & very quickly shut the conversation down & hung up, rebooted the modem & deleted the anydesk.exe file i was asked to download. MORAL OF THE STORY: If you have problems with your NBN, call / write NBN directly or your provider (in my case Telstra); & block that number on your phone. (The scam number that contacted me was (03) 4334 1948, Bakery Hill, near Ballarat, but I'm sure they change continually!)

Cold call (from non Australian) asked me to log on to nbnupgrade.unaux.com - obviously scammers. Suggested they could improve my speeds and services. I exaggerated my speed by two time and it was still to slow?? Gave 1800 687 626 as a call back. At least I wasted 20 minutes of their time. Idiots said they would block land line, internet, mobile and iPad. PS still working as I was able to submit this comment. Ha Ha

Someone rang my 91yo Mum today and pushed for her to give them her credit card details despite the upgrade of her modem being free. The tech will be there on this day at this time, ID number... just like all the reports above me. Why are they still getting away with it? Luckily Mum is smart enough not to give card details to an unknown voice on the phone.

Rang yesterday and told me a technician is coming giving me his name Robert William and badge number 4456 and he will fix our landline. He had our address correct but the name of the resident is in numbers and told me that it was our fault giving wrong information. He threatened me that our landline, internet and mobile services will be cut off. We get a lot of calls from NBN almost everyday. Can someone do anything about this?

My parents had a call (not sure of the number) and said they needed a technician to come out to replace their modem. They said they were to send Peter Wilson nbn5571 number 1800 687 626. Asked for bank account details. Threatened to shut off their phone and internet in 10 mins. Definitely a scam.
