Received a text asking for payment for a shipment from a supplier for my business - called FedEx direct using their 13 26 10 number and they've confirmed it's legit. Hope that helps!

Caller: Fedex-Exp Redacted, your FedEx shipment Redacted requires urgent Duty and Taxes payment of 342.29 before delivery can be arranged. Please pay today with this link: Redacted.
If any query please contact 1800 111 112 option 1 or email : sydrod @ fedex.com Thank you.
Anyone saying this is legitimate has been scammed. This is not legitimate. I ignored the text message and my package cleared customs. Track your package with the link emailed to you by FedEx, your tracking link will tell you if there is any duty and GST outstanding that requires actioning.

Not a scam, it’s FedEx, you’re probably listed as a recipient for an overseas parcel and need to provide details for AU customs. Text looked a bit sus but was legit.

Caller: Fed Ex Customs For me, this was a legit message & I received a call too. I rang FedEx to ensure it was correct, not this number, but the main one, being 132 610, to confirm.
I would recommend if you still get the message though, to call FedEx to confirm it isn’t a scam.

Caller: FedEX In my experience it's not a scam. It's FedEx. My package just arrived after paying customs through them. I can see why it raises alarm bells, weird link destination, and why does FedEx have a seperate number that isn't referenced on their website?? It worried me. But on the message they left referenced that it was music instrument and the real tracking number, that would be a sophisticated scam, so I called FedEx's Australia number on their website (13 26 10) to confirm the number and the import tax amount and the payment method was legit.
But OBVIOUSLY don't just trust RANDOMS on the internet to tell whether something is legit. Do ya own due diligence and call FedEx on their other number directly to double check. Triple check!! Maybe ask if they have an alternative payment method. People should be able to pay through a method that gives them piece of mind.
And if anyone has actually been scammed with this number FedEx needs to take direct responsibility, cause they told me it was an offical number.

SCAM. Beware. A person claiming to be from Fedex called my home 4 times. They didn't know my name. They didn't know what I had in postage. My friend who happened to recieve a legitimate Fedex package on the same day warned me that this person calling constantly was definitely a scammer.
I read the comments on the page and it seems the scammers have spammed it with fake messages to trick people like us into thinking it is legitimate. It isn't. Don't get sucked into this scam.
They don't even know my name but yet they have my phone number. Beware of this scam!!!

Caller: FedEx Customs and Billing Department Ok, following up on my previous comment; I've ascertained 100% (to myself) that this number *is* legitimate. I called FedEx Customer Service (13 26 10) and was firstly told to expect an e-mail, that didn't eventuate so I rang back (it is Christmas eve in Australia, the 23rd in the US) and was told the Customs and Billing Department would return my call, they did, and after ascertaining that the GST charges and Electronic Import fee were correct and legitimate (the vendor had valued the book at $1500US, which is a separate issue) by having them e-mail an official invoice and doing the maths, I paid via credit card and received an official receipt. Both the invoice and the receipt came from legitimate addresses and have all the correct hallmarks and security protocols, the only odd aspect is the phone number, which was difficult, but not impossible to verify as coming from FedEx themselves. I imagine it's not easily available as it is an Expedited Service Number which is open to abuse vectors, not the least of which being folks skipping the queue on the Customer Service line by calling this one - they are able to transfer you between departments.
The operators had thick accents, but not all of the same origin, and *loads* of call centres are run from India, Phillipines, and other parts of Asia, so this isn't really a red flag anymore, tho I am not by any means suggesting the other activity on the matter shouldn't be investigated, this did appear suspicious, but the accents are the least of my concerns.
It's Duty, GST and an $88AU Import Fee in my case, and from what I can ascertain, is applicable to orders over $1000 (denomination unknown).
I find this highly offensive, but it's really an issue with Australian Customs, Border Force, Home Affairs Office and the Federal Government so if you ignore it, the package will simply be returned to the sender and the process repeated, assuming you want the package, address the issue, even if you take the thirteen hour route I did to ascertain it's veracity.
Dodgy practises either way, but in a hostage situation there are only two viable outcomes.

They purport to be FedEx and the tracking number does appear to annotate my parcel's delivery schedule, however, I have already paid $417+ to FedEx and adding these charges puts the cost up to almost $1000AU for shipping.
Checking the tracking number (by physically copying it in) on FedEx's website confirms the package was held up for Clearance, but also states that no action be taken (it was also stopped due to no Commercial Invoice).
Could be that someone has the infornation and is extorting extra funds on packages that are still to arrive, could be it is actually FedEx. It was after 10pm here and very few FedEx centres are open, certainly not the pertinent one.
I will retrieve information from the sender, and call official numbers (best check those too) in the morning to ascertain whether we're going to court or not, regardless of the legitimacy of the message, $1000AU for shipping a book is criminal (check with ACCC & ASIC)
