I have been called from (02) 5740 8225, texted and called from 0430 613 699 and emailed from vacantsiteinvestigations @ agl.com.au about the electricity OR gas supply at the property I currently live at, and been requested to contact 1300 949 462 each time - in general, it has been more about the gas supply. We have never had an AGL account, don't intend to ever have an AGL account (especially after this), and get our electricity from a different supplier (at least we have been paying the other provider for it). We do not use gas at all, and already have a gas disconnection notice from Jemena. I am not convinced this is not a scam. I would check directly with AGL instead, and also check if your real estate has given away your personal information.

This is a scam call even though the scammers post here that it's legitimate. It's not. I got a call back from 0430 613 699 (lots of hit's for it being a scam number) asking for account details or service would be disconnected in 24 hours. Which AGL would never do and they warn about these calls on their website.

I can confirm that the number is legitimate. The team/department is part of AGL's 'Energy Consumer' department/investigations. The reason for the call for the previous occupant or property manager is seeking assistance and confirmation regarding whether the property is currently vacant or occupied. As AGL continues to supply electricity and gas to a specific property, and no one has contacted them to set up an account or disconnect the electricity/gas meter for the properties they are investigating. There is no need to be concerned if you are paying your bills, have set up an account, or requested disconnection.

I received a call from them regarding my electricity and they were able to confirm my meter numbers etc. Also, they were able to verify all the details in my existing account with AGL. I linked the supply to my account and I was able to received email from AGL regarding my new account number as well as invoices. So they are legit.

I received an email which ended with @agl.com from Vacant Site Investigations and although it looked legit, I still googled their number in their signature and saw the comment above saying it’s a scam call.

So, I went on their website and found you can check these things by emailing spam @ agl.com.au and then attach the email you received, and they will reply to let you know if it’s legit or not.

They replied not even 24 hours later to confirm it is a legitimate AGL contact - both the phone number and email.

I think the issue when phoning is a lot of their employees actually don’t understand what you’re saying. I have so many issues when I phone, and I’ve had to call back heaps of times to correct their mistakes as they do not understand or listen correctly.

The only way information goes through smoothly is when I message on their app or email.

They state they are from AGL investigations team and that the gas will be cut off within 24 hours and try to get you to provide details to prevent disconnection including who you are, email etc. I said I'll call back. Then I called AGL on their real number and there's no issues with the account and they already have this number on record as a scammer.

Scam phone number. Also got an email from them saying they are from AGL vacant site investigations and need to call them immediately to provide details over the phone to prevent service disconnection. Called the real AGL customer number and was told there's no issues with the account and that the 1300 number is a scammer.
