Claimed to be from AGL investigations referencing an address I haven’t lived at for more than 5 years and asking to call back an AGL number that doesn’t exist on their website. Scam call

Fake number, claiming to be AGL, however we phoned AGL back directly and confirmed this was a scam.

This is not a scammer. They are a part of AGL who investigates properties who are being supplied gas without being charged. Their main number is 1300 949 462 but use this mobile to call out

I have been called from (02) 5740 8225, texted and called from 0430 613 699 and emailed from vacantsiteinvestigations @ agl.com.au about the electricity OR gas supply at the property I currently live at, and been requested to contact 1300 949 462 each time - in general, it has been more about the gas supply. We have never had an AGL account, don't intend to ever have an AGL account (especially after this), and get our electricity from a different supplier (at least we have been paying the other provider for it). We do not use gas at all, and already have a gas disconnection notice from Jemena. I am not convinced this is not a scam. I would check directly with AGL instead, and also check if your real estate has given away your personal information.

Claiming to be AGL and said they found my address on land title but I rent, so doesn't make sense. Asking for phone number of strata manager.

Call from 0430 613 699 asked me to call 1300 949 462 Claim to be from AGl investigations unit - really bad qualiy of line - got passed around to a couple of different people - all with same foreign accents - they had my name and number nut were saying they would cut off my gas in 24 hours - at an address I've never lived at. Call official AGL on 131245 instead - they need to give you 6 days notice in writing.

"Joyce from AGL Investigations" called stating that electricity for the Common Property was disconnected from our villa block in 2022, and they have been providing it since without being paid. We have not voted to change energy providers and I doubt a Strata company would overlook paying electricity on our behalf. Wanted Strata details which I did not provided. Seems like a scam.

Person has called a number of times leaving messages to ring 1300 949 462 back regarding an electricity account with a property that our company manages, however the shop number quoted does not exist. Caller states that the electricity will be disconnected if not paid. We don't have a contract with AGL.

Called a commercial office saying we needed to provide details to renew our electricity as we still have not set up an account and since the previous tenants have moved out last year we haven’t had an account. We have been in this office for 15 years.
Absolutely a scam

Very polite lady and could easily convince someone - claiming to be from AGL and asking me to confirm my address (gave me a number range of an address I haven't lived at for 10 years) and assist them in a connection issue and were hoping nearby businesses or residents could check the connection for them. LOL.

I think it might be a scam number as it called me to renew my electricity at an address I hadn't been living in for over 8 months. If someone can confirm or deny this that would be great.
