Caller: Charmaine In my case, the two calls I received showed up as originating from (07) 3732 2200 but 1300 041 086 was included in the email I received, which led me to this page. In my case, this seems to have been legitimate. I rang GIO on the number published on their website (131 010) and informed them of the two phone calls and email I had received. They confirmed there was a remediation notice on the policy and put me through to the remediation team. I only had to provide a BSB and account number into which the refund will be paid. While in my circumstance it was legitimate, your circumstances may vary so be cautious.

Caller: AAMI I was wary that this was a phish. I went onto their website and confirmed this number on AAMI chat. 1300 041 086 IS an AAMI number. It IS for AAMI Remediation. They ended up owing me a whole $ 11 for a premium I had overpaid about 6 years ago. I'll try not to spend it all at once!

Caller: Suncorp Centralised Remediation Team Same as David. I used to work for Suncorp so I know the system. They are very careful about scammers. I checked with the main office and they confirmed the call and email. It comes up as AAI which is the the main umbrella company that all the Suncorp Insurance companies are under in Australia and NZ. Just in case I went through the main Suncorp switch, to do all this.

Caller: Shannon's Insurance Remediation Team I ignored calls from unknown numbers so I got a letter in the mail. Instead of calling the number (this number) listed on the letter, I called the company. Turns out this one is legit - Suncorp, who own Shannons. It was a small amount to be reimbursed and, as others commented, I was hesitant to provide bank details. Instead, I asked for the amount to be donated. This was agreed. I would recommend this as a no-harm option to anyone who is unsure.

I rang back on the official 13 22 44 number and eventually got transferred to a house insurance premium remediation team member who explained what was going on. A refund for a calculation error is on my way! In these days of domestic violence and relatiionship problems, they are deliberately being non descript in their messages. They were all understanding of my scepticism leading me to ring them on the number that I know. And there is a "lucky" team member called Amy!!

Caller: AAMI Remidiation Team Not a scam. Rememediation team audited a claim I made 7 years ago after our house broken in to. The audit uncovered they incorrectly processed my claim and I was entitled to more of a cpayout. They refunded a sizeable amount plus 7 years interest. Money transferred into my bank within 24 hours. If in doubt call the main insurance number and get transferred to remediation team. I'm always cautious, which is why I ended up on this site, but so glad I did my diligence and got my unexpected refund.

Caller: Apia I received a message from Apia on this number. 1300 041 086 to say that they owed me a refund on my home and contents policy for multi policy discount. I was sceptical, so I phoned Apia directly and they put me through to their redemption team to complete the refund process. It is not a SCAM. If you have doubts ring the insurance company directly on their own number.

I received a message saying that I had overplayed a premium for a CTP Greenslip with AAMI and to call this numberr and talk to the remediation team. The message quoted a policy number. As my green slip had not been with AAMI for some time, I thought it might be a scam. I called AAMI directly, and they said it wasn’t a scam. I had overpaid a premium in 2019. They transferred me through to the remediation team and four days later I have the refund in my account.
