This phone number belongs to a scammer, who is trying to tell you they are from the NBN, this is false they are just tring to get you to send some money for a Modem that you do not need.

Caller: NBN scam. Used name of Travis Stott and technician Richard Martin

I am ashamed I got caught in rhis. Usually so careful. They had so many of my details was scary. I even got to stage of given Credit card details but what was supposed to be $3.99 AUD ended up as IRD currency, Indonesian Rupeia. About $2800 AUD . I did not give final pin number so they got no cash ( they wanted to see if I had other cards to pay with) and rhey got abusive and kept ringing back. I got onto bank asap and cancelled credit card Bank was awesome but I feel so stupid. This is Oct 2023 most of rhe others in this feed seem much earlier.. What to look out for, rhey ring land line, strong Indian accent, can get aggressive and insistent is you challenge, they have lots of your info already. Used names Richard Martin and Travis Stott, tried to appear legit by providing lots of technical details they wanted you to copy down. Hope this may help someone not be as dumb as myself

Caller: Technical Dept from NBN

We hung up on them 5 times, told them we thought they were a scam. They rang back and back until we spoke to them and then gave us the following details:
Technical dept number (08) 6102 8269
Peter Wilson is the so called technician they said they were sending out NBN id 2817369PW
Contact number 1800 687 626
They were rude and forceful threatening to cut off our landline for a month if we didn't agree to fibre optic connection and said this Peter guy would turn up on Monday.
They already had all of our details.
Rang Optus who confirmed it's a scam.
So annoying!!

Rang my landline from mobile number 0414 715 953 - strong Indian accent. Said he was from NBN and ringing about my internet - problems in my area and told me my postcode. I questioned him many times. Then told him that I would ring Telstra to verify before giving any information. I asked for a number to call back on and he said:
** (08) 6102 8269
I then told him that it was a scam and told him to **** off and not call again. Then I hung up and checked number on Reverse Australia.com and it confirmed SCAM caller.

This was a scam. They knew I was waiting for my phone to be fixed so they either work for NBN Co. or buy your information. This is the only reason I spoke to them. After a 3 hour conversation and giving them my MC for the payment of $4.48 it didn’t feel right so when I checked my on-line bank account they had scammed not only me but my 90 year old mother’s linked account. We have lost this money as the bank say’s (after 60 days of investigation) the Bendigo Bank account it was transferred to is empty.

Private call to my landline: Caller said his name was Lucas and a tech (Logan Smith) was needed to come to my premises to fix a NBN connection. Replace existing cabling with copper? He booked in an appointment for me but did not have my mobile number. He needed my mobile number to send through the appointment details. Right from the start I was suspicious but was curious to find out what the go was! the caller got annoyed when I would not disclose my mobile number and ended the call.

Hi there
Phone calls coming from (08) 6102 8269 it`s a scam.
Happened to me exactly what other people described above.
When I told them that I will call Telstra directly to check about this they said that my landline will be disconnected in 24 hours in hang up on me.
If they call you tell them to piss off and hang up on them.

Same type of call, will replace Modem, will come Monday, this was on a Friday at about 6pm. Gave the call back number of (08) 6102 8269, from North Sydney (where NBN is) My Modem is from Optus, not NBN so I don't see the connection. I told him I was busy, and would get back to him. Did this checking and here I am.

Same as above. "Peter Wilson" called our landline, said he was from Telstra, knew the NBN was starting to work in our area, knew my partner's name and our address, He set up appointment for technician to come and 'fix' our landline, and gave all the details re ID numbers, etc., etc. then wanted a mobile number to send text to confirm appointment (I gave him my partner's number - should have twigged that Telstra would already have that!) then went into spiel about a new modem being delivered and the delivery cost - I'd already said I did not want to talk further and would get my partner to call, and he kept trying to keep me on the phone re the cost of delivery and I said he could talk to my partner about that and I hung up. I'm usually on top of these things but his having so many details was unsettling.

Same deal as above, called saying there was a problem with the speed of the NBN connection and we needed a new modem - 7th Generation, rather than the 3rd Generation one we have now. He also insisted that I write everything down and that a technician, Jordan Watson, would be coming to install the new modem for free - at no point did he ask for any money. I asked for a 1800 number and he took a minute to give me 1800 687 626. I said that I would ring them and confirm my appointment and hung up

Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: Caller: 'Peter Wilson' from 'NBN' and his 'senior tech support' 'Mark Williams'

Firstly - They had all my personal details. (quite scary). Strong Indian accents. I asked them who logged the call. They said they were calling everyone in the area due to a serive problem. They asked me to give them my data speeds and wanted to upgrade the speed. (only recently serviced and our area had tech/network upgrades). They called from (07) 3801 2497. When I asked they said they were calling from (08) 6102 8268. I caught them out by saying "so you are in Sydney then?". after they confirmed this I then asked "how are you calling from Perth?". 'tech support' AKA "Mark Williams" Trying to gain access to my local network via https://fastsupport.gotoassist.com/ . Went to window and I started reading the warning to him "Be cautious if you receive unsolicited requests to access your computer.Only join support sessions with people you recognize and trust. Report abuse". He got very short and agitated with me and spoke over the top of me to move me on from this and to log in.
I told then I'd call them back once I 'verified it was legit'. Clearly, this was a scam from the get go, followed along without giving anything in the hope this info will help.

The caller wanted to upgrade my fibre to provide better speed. The caller hung up after I advised that I would check with Optus to see if the calller was legitimate. Before hanging up I got a contact number (08) 6102 8269. As my NBN service is new they are getting personal information very quickly
