This is legit. I have an insurance claim through Shannon’s which is part of the Suncorp/AAMI conglomerate. They requested details from me to reimburse an expense claim I had submitted. They had info nobody could have known. The unknown number from interstate and Indian accented caller did make me suspicious initially.

Caller: APIA related business It's really so frustrating to see how annoying scam callers are because that clearly affects situations like mine. In my case, the caller I.D. wasn't recognised, but when I rang it back on my private, land-line, it was obvious that the call WASN'T spam. It was in fact a representative from APIA, which is part of the Suncorp group of businesses. The agent was responding to my recent motor vehicle claim. So yes, beware of scammers, but don't automatically assume that the caller is a fake.

Caller: Company I do have a claim through AAMI Insurance but the "claim reference" did not match the claim reference I got from AAMI, and it is the only claim I have currently. So for me scam.

Caller: AAMI They asked 3 IDs, so before sharing I verified the case number, which they confirmed. Should be OK to pick the call, otherwise get ready for call waiting :)

Caller: Bingle insurance I had the same call today. The indian lady told me they represent the other party and asked for 3 point ID check. Once I have provided, she told me the date of the incident and told me that their client claimed that I was at fault. I disputed that as I was the one hit front behind and there were witnesses and the police was present. She then asked me if I will be disputing the claim and hung up.

Caller: I don't know Then why did they call me and then hang up.
Why when I returned the call was it just an automated voice message? Sounds pretty scammy to me.

Thanks for you input, but scammers actually ask you to identify oneself to get their details. Having a company call and ask you to identify yourself is now a no no as we do not know how legit those calls are and people are falling for this all the time and have been scammed. They are only protecting themselves. Maybe communication should be in the mail or emails and not cold calling and asking for your personal details for them to proceed and please don't accuse anyone of being an nuisance as they are only protecting themselves for protential scammers
