If we are receiving unsolicited calls, when we have no active claims whatsoever, 100% I will treat it as a marketing/ scam call, simple as that. If it is that urgent of a matter regarding an active policy, they should contact via the registered email they have on file. Otherwise is a scam, given all that has happened during this year, I refuse to have my details dictated over the phone

Most definitely not a scam call, just because people on here call it a scam doesn't mean it is

There is nothing to stop scammers to post comments that this is not a scam call. If in doubt, treat is as a scam

If it is genuine GIO or AAMI, the caller should identify herself and introduce what the call is about, for example: "My name is XXX from GIO, I would like to speak to YYY, in relation to the insurance policy ABC123 and claim number DEF567. Accident/incident on DATEXXX. We have approved .XYZ or could you provide us with LMN by email XXX @ GIO.com.au so we can progress your claim" - or something alone the line so we do not need to second guess. AND help stops the scam call from getting our personnel details

Instead the supposedly GIO caller said: "Am I speaking to YYY. Could you please state your full name, birth date, address ......." My answer to the caller is: "You call me, I do not know who you are, where you call from, hence I am not going to disclose to you, an unknown person from unknown number of unknown place/organisation, my details. Email me or write a letter to me, you have my details"

I have someone claimed to be from the Tax Office, he refused to give me his name and the number so that I can call back. I asked him to write to me and then I hung up. Never hear from the tax office.

Please GIO, AAMI, if this number belong to you, please change your approach. Please help to stop those scam calls.

DEFINITELY THERE IS NO REASON TO PROVIDE THE CALLER YOUR IDENTIFICATION.

100% a scam. I declined the call and INSTANTLY they rang again. And again and again and again every time I declined the call, before I could block the number. Legit Suncorp reps wouldn't do that.. the scammers are the ones claiming it's really Suncorp's number

Got a missed call phone message this morning on a Saturday from (07) 3732 2200 - It went "Hi <my name>, my name is Amy and I'm from GIO. I'm calling about reference number CPG00163260 - if you could call back on 1300 041 086 Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm. I don't have any policies with GIO nor do I have any open claims.

Caller: (07) 3732 2200 Jodie

Got random call from this number. Didn't answer and left go to message bank. Jodie left a speedy message with a reference number and a different phone number to call back on.
She claimed to be Suncorp Insurance Remediation team.
I rang Suncorp direct on their call number (neither of these two phone numbers) and eventually got put through to a team member that said they are reviewing Insurance policies and I was overcharged.
They are going back more than 10 years.
I am now to be refunded a few hundred bucks.
Worth calling Suncorp to enquire, even if you don't want to call the number they give you.
IS NOT A SCAM

It is probably someone who 'spoofs' Suncorp's number. Might still be a scammer - be very careful.

Received a call today from a person who gave the name Christine.. Said she was from Shannons remediation. She wanted to know my name address and other personal details. I did not wish to give any personal details and told her I was doubtful about the call and asked for a number to call them back. Because of previous doubtful circumstances I asked, "are we talking about a refund ?" She said "Yes."
Anyways as you can guess, the number rings a couple of times and goes to a recording that says if the person at their end wants to talk to you they will call you back and then hangs up..Sounds like a strange way of doing business to me !!!

This is legit. I have an insurance claim through Shannon’s which is part of the Suncorp/AAMI conglomerate. They requested details from me to reimburse an expense claim I had submitted. They had info nobody could have known. The unknown number from interstate and Indian accented caller did make me suspicious initially.

It's really so frustrating to see how annoying scam callers are because that clearly affects situations like mine. In my case, the caller I.D. wasn't recognised, but when I rang it back on my private, land-line, it was obvious that the call WASN'T spam. It was in fact a representative from APIA, which is part of the Suncorp group of businesses. The agent was responding to my recent motor vehicle claim. So yes, beware of scammers, but don't automatically assume that the caller is a fake.

Don't listen to the scammer curry munchers on here. It's a scam from a hijacked number.

I do have a claim through AAMI Insurance but the "claim reference" did not match the claim reference I got from AAMI, and it is the only claim I have currently. So for me scam.
