I had the same call today. The indian lady told me they represent the other party and asked for 3 point ID check. Once I have provided, she told me the date of the incident and told me that their client claimed that I was at fault. I disputed that as I was the one hit front behind and there were witnesses and the police was present. She then asked me if I will be disputing the claim and hung up.

Then why did they call me and then hang up.

Why when I returned the call was it just an automated voice message?
Sounds pretty scammy to me.

Thanks for you input, but scammers actually ask you to identify oneself to get their details. Having a company call and ask you to identify yourself is now a no no as we do not know how legit those calls are and people are falling for this all the time and have been scammed. They are only protecting themselves. Maybe communication should be in the mail or emails and not cold calling and asking for your personal details for them to proceed and please don't accuse anyone of being an nuisance as they are only protecting themselves for protential scammers

Is this comment serious? ANYONE who calls you and asks for your details are doing it wrong and should be told this at the time. These bad practices by reputable companies are encouraging vishing attacks and they need to be told. You need to verify the caller, not the other way round, because they called you! Even if you recognise the number it can still be spoofed. This site has just been shut down for doing exactly this - http://ispoof.net. If you ever receive a call asking for your details, first of all tell them they shouldn't be asking these questions. Then get them to proove to you THEIR identity. Ask them for your name, address, policy number, amount in bank account, last 3 transactions etc, or call them back on a number which you find online if they really need to talk to you. Until reputable businesses stop encouraging practices which scammers use, this will continue.

It's still AAMI but now they're better at handling proving who they are first.

Sent me an email that contained a letter they had written me previously and was verified by Gmail has havng being sent by AAMI. We then had a normal covnersation about the matter at hand. I still wouldn't be handing over really sensitive information on a phone call but they didn't ask for anything like that. And I do want them to ensure they are talking to me not someone else.

Legitimate call regarding recent MVA claim I lodged. I believed it’s a multi used assessment organization used by many different insurance companies. But legit call and not a sales rep.

Called Sunday Morning. Left a message to call AAMI back about my claim and left a reference number. I called AAMI and they had no record of a need to call me and the reference number had no relevance. How do these ratbags know I have a claim?

Legitimate call from Shannons Insurance (part of AAMI) after a conversation with one of their reps at a car show re insuring a vehicle, and was promised a follow up call. Call from the local Shannons rep on Central Coast NSW came thru on this number.
