Received an SMS asking for a Y or N reply if I wanted a parcel I'm expecting to be left unattended at my premises if I'm not home to accept delivery. Suspicious, so I googled the number & decided it was legit & replied Y - did not click on the link in the message, just sent an SMS back. After coming here & seeing comments about it being a scam, I checked my tracking number via the Star Track website & my delivery details had been updated at the time I replied to the SMS to say I gave authority for my parcel to be left unattended if I wasn't home - therefore, in my case, this was definitely a legit SMS.

The number is legitimately Australia Post, however scammers are sending SMS pretending to be from the number to mobile phones.
The SMS will try and direct you to a fake site, that is similar to the real Aus Post site, check the link for extra "."
For example, the link currently going around is my.po.st , the link is underlined to try and hide the "."'s
Never click on a link from an SMS, and never enter your username and password from a link, or any billing details

They may be aware that you are having a delivery from somewhere, they may have a link to something that tells them, then they send you the fake link. Mine says to go pick up with ID as I replied Y to late - it gives me no details on where to pick it up and I am not clicking the link

Lowlife scumbag scammers. Aus Post does not have phone number displayed on genuine sms. when reply Y it is rejected as not functional. Do not click on link. reported.
How do they know who is sending a parcel. which is also beng delivered on same day, and for which a separate sms has been received?

This SMS appears the same time as a legit message from AusPost, however when you click Y another message telling you there is a system failure has occurred, obviously hoping you will then click their link.
AusPost: Your parcel from 'Universal ...' is coming today.
Want us to leave it if nobody's home? Reply 'Y'.

I just received a message to that effect, supposedly from Auspost, saying my parcel from Target is arriving today - link attached to click on.
1) Auspost does not display a phone number
2) I havent ordered anything from Target.

https://mypo.st is officially used by AusPost. It's an example of a TinyURL which is a web service used to shorten long URLs. I received an SMS asking me to respond with a 'Y' or 'N' if I wanted my package left if no one was home. I first checked the tracking ID via email and the delivery date matched. I clicked on the URL in the SMS and it took me to AusPost and the correct Tracking number.
