This is Telstra back of house team, they generally call other ISP to work out technical issues such as faults. I am taking to one as I type this who is helping me get one of my customers connected due to a network issue. Not a scam line at all.

Firstly. anyone can get a legitimate phone number to pass off as being honest. People, wake up. I have a friend who was with DoDo, not telstra. But because the number "Sandra" supplied as a real number, my friend followed all the instructions to "fix" her "compromised" internet. So what happened next was gobsmacking. She almost immediately lost a lot of money from her bank account. One of the "tests" was to log onto her most secure internet site. She suggested that her bank was the most secure. Little did my friend know that this woman now had access to ALL of the information about her, her family, her friends and since she was logged into her internet bank account, that was also available to these lousy scammers. Wake up people. If you dont use telstra, then why would they be calling you about your internet. If in doubt, the slightest doubt. Hang up and call your internet provider.

Scammers. Also avoid (03) 9018 5643. I received a call from Telstra at home, indicating that our internet connection had been compromised and that there had been a security breach. We recently changed over to Telstra and had all manner of issues with the connection so I initially thought that this call was legitimate. I asked that they provide me with some evidence that I was speaking to Telstra and they gave me a number to call "Technical Centre". They didn't pick up and called me back. I hung up since I checked the comments here, but I must say that they were pretty good. They called me 2 times after that. This scam is apparently widespread.

Received call just before 6pm on 7 Jul 2017 (NSW Australia) - fave time for scammers as we sit down to the news. she said she was from telstra phoning about microsoft software. i said 'no you are not. you are lying to me. give me your number and i will report you to the police.' Haha so this naive indian-sounding woman gave me the number above. duh. i am on the do-not-call-me-list so this is illegal. i know it is not telstra because i dont have a telstra account. so some ppl above are misguided!

This is definitely Telstra and it is very disappointing that others have said that it's a scam - it's not!!!! They kindly phoned me back as I had made a complaint about them.

This is a legitimate Telstra number. Definitely NOT a scam. I, like a lot of people, was undecided. I had occasion to contact Telstra myself. I got them to look up their internal directory. If you still have any doubt, I would suggest you do as I have done. Get secret questions (with answers only you know) put on your account and insist the caller asks you on all calls. I've had some very interesting comments from some scammers, when I confront them with my request. Anyway, deal with this number in confidence.

Yes, same dodgey caller referring to a hacker, and saying she was based in some Melbourne office, but clearly a hoax.
