100% a scam said i owed money to paypal and i was - $400 , i then hung up the phone and called paypal direct number from the paypal website and asked for my balance they said it was zero and i owed nothing.

Scam scam scam. They are not Pay Pal

Claimed to be PayPal. They asked for the correct name on my PayPal acc, and I said I didn't want to give my details as I'm unsure if this is a scam. They got pissy with me.
As I do have a negative balance that is currently pending (apparently it takes about 8 days to transfer money into your own PayPal) I asked if it was about the exact negative balance and was told they couldn't give that info to anyone without confirming who they are.
So it sounds sus but also could be legit?
They called multiple times without leaving a message and my phones inbuilt scam detector was sus on the number too. I have no idea.
Im dealing with it via my PayPal app.

I too have a negative PayPal balance as a result of someone making fraudulent purchases so the payments are automatically refunded and I was expecting to be contacted by them so I am not surprised I have had 3 missed calls from this number. The reason they don't leave a message is they are only allowed to contact you to a maximum of 3 calls per week or 10 per month ... but if no message is left, it is not considered having made contact. So they are permitted to continue calling until the call is answered.

This is PayPal calling re negative balance on your account. They probably need to re-think their strategy though, I've had 3 calls in the space of 3 hours with no message left etc. Spoke with them last week and already advised I will fix up the balance and am aware of it. 3 calls inthe space of 3 hours during work hours when most people can't answer their phone is excessive and harassing and is completely unnecessary. Just send an email to the Paypal email address. Especially for an amount as small as the amount I'm in debit for and when I had a refund that they could have used to clear it but still sent back to my account. Bad business practice spamming people with calls.

This number is still being used to scam. they rang me 3 times in 1 day and didn't leave a message.it is not PayPal as they don't ring you even when your account is over drawn as I have tried this.

I had gone into negative balance and this call is from a legitimate Paypal number following up on payment. Get with the times Paypal! There is something called 'FAST' payments made between accounts within 1 minute now so why does it still take you 5 days to debit accounts!!

It’s genuine. They knew the balance and it was a courtesy call. I actually got paranoid because of the number and the training of the staff. I called them back and a different person answered. I’m not sure why people would say it’s a scam with no evidence. I guess these days everything is a scam unless proven otherwise.

Everyone here is saying its a Paypal scam. It 100% is not a scam, I had unauthorised charges on my Paypal making it to go into negative balance/debt and 30min after submitting it I got a call from this number.

Everyone claiming they never had a Paypal had most likely had their number inputted by someone else on accident.

Operator rang gave me their operator code. Told me I had a negative balance. But they had my name and address but the email was not mine. Got transferred so I hung up and googled this.

They call me about 10 times a day. I've blocked them, but still get notified.

They claim they are from PayPal, an that someone has access your account.
This is a SCAM! do not buy into this, block number immediately.

Answered the call and the lady said she was PayPal and asked for me using my maiden name. I never had an account with my maiden name so I assumed it was a scam and hung up. Keeps calling me daily.

They called me a day after the real PayPal called me. I spoke to PayPal through my app and they informed me it’s a scam and to block the number.

I couldn’t help myself and the next time the number called I answered and abused the lady. Turns out this is the best port of call as I didn’t even have to bloc the number as they never called back after that.

I answered and it rang then someone answered asking for my husband, then when I said this wasn’t his number and asked who was calling she said oh it doesn’t matter since this isn’t his number . If it were a ligit business they would have told me who they were, I just laughed and said so your just bullsh*t and hung up on her .

American calling from a Sydney number. Generally conducted herself like a scammer, speaking over me forcefully.

Can 100% guarantee this is NOT from PayPal!!!! I contacted the real PayPal and they confirmed this is not from them. Do not give these scammers any of your information. Block this number. Do not fall for this scam. I’m sorry but the people here writing this is genuine, have either stupidity given their info to these fakes or are the actual scammers and are trying to make this number look legit. PayPal confirmed they do not call from Australian numbers if they contact customers. Don’t fall for it.
