Called our business saying they wanted to update our hours, I said it hadn't changed from what was there and he asked me to repeat. I hung up

This guy called claiming they needed to fix our google maps hours

I told them we know they are correct cuz we are a by appointment place but they didn’t like that answer

Caller: "Google Maps"

I had the "Google Maps" call too.. I asked if there was a phone number that I could call him back on and he said: "Ohhh. I got ya" and hung up. No way a Global organisation has this level of "customer service".

Asking for opening/closing times - told him its already listed online

Claimed to be from Google Maps and wanted to confirm my business hours. Hung up in a hurry after I said no, as I manage my own listing. If they were really from Google they would know that.

Caller: A robot?

It says it is an Automated Service. It is not a person it is an Android/Robot that talks amazingly well.
It asked me for my business hours and I asked if it knew what my company was and it didnt know. So how can it be of use if it doesnt even know your business, let alone its hours???
So i said i dont talk to robots and it said fine and finished the call. Cooky!

Left a message asking about when we open and closed during the week to update Google Maps.
The voice stated that it is being recorded and is an automated service.

I don't believe it's a scam call, Google 3 years ago announced it will be started to make computer generated/automated calls to business to verify and update listings as part of Google Duplex. It supposedly started rolling out in Australia in the past year or so and I do believe these are genuine calls that are automated but can carry a conversation fairly well (voice sounded very real).

From what I understand they are trying to fix Google Maps/Business listing that could be possibly out of date or incorrect. This number checks out on the Google support page, but it's probably not a terrible thing as it helps to make sure the online details are correct, but there is an option to opt out on their site.

Man claiming he works for Google Maps telling me I was being recorded and wanting to know our business opening and closing hours. Hang up!!

same here he ask for my business details for training purposes

Same as others have experienced, wanted to know our business hours and I told him our company updates this info themselves. He sounded annoyed and hung up

Asking for opening and closing hour, from Google automated system, I didn't response then the guy said 'ok, got you' then hang up.

Though it said it was from Google Maps, he was asking wrong question. He said we wanted to verify if you run 24/7. We don't run 24/7 and it's up to date on Google Maps. He was just using the same automated script for everyone. It was certainly not from Google Maps. Otherwise, they should personalise based on the business data they already have.
