Caller: Supposedly Westpac I have had 4 calls over the last few days all saying from Westpac, from some section that I could not understand asked to call back on 1300 136 866 all very heavily accented, seemed very odd. Seems like a scam

Caller: St George St George did call from this number regarding my company that was deregistered. The other number 1300 130 866 is legitimate... note these numbers are specifically regarding company accounts... other note, ASIC has recently been cleaning house and with the new director rules, could be a reason for the increase in St George reaching out (possibly also Westpac, as these 2 banks merged in 2008, but kept both trading names)

Caller: Luke from Westpac Remediation team. Emp ID M051588 Called my wife and left a message about being from the Westpac remediation team. They made it sound genuine on the voicemail and even said it may seem like it's a spam call but there is something that needs to be remediated in the account. I called back this number and a person named Luke answered and asked me to verify my details. I asked if he could verify that he was from Westpac or send me an email from his westpac email but he said I can call the 13 number and verify the employee id. I called westpac an they said it is a valid emp id but they couldn't see any notes that Luke was trying to contact me or that there was any remediation that was required. This is the most professional scam call I have received so far

Caller: claimed to be from westpac Very suspicious - when they started to ask me to identify myself when they were the ones to initiate the call and I asked them to email me instead, they were very reluctant. Terminated the call.

Caller: Simon - Westpac Remediation I had several calls also - answered last one and when they asked for my details I asked for the details to be loaded onto my account and I would go into Branch. First visit to branch they said there was nothing on my old account so I passed it off as a scam. I went into branch again today and got a different person who could see the notes on my old account. After a quick ID check in person I now have Westpac a $1700 refund coming my way - all done in branch on secure platforms. If you had an old westpac account it’s worth following up

Caller: Westpac Remediation Team Got a voicemail message from Westpac on my old mobile number, haven't banked with them for 10 years. Apparently a cheque they sent me 3 years ago for a credit card fee refund hasn't been processed. They would have sent this to my old address I reckon. I phone the legitimate Westpac number and got put through to someone who confirmed it was legitimate and they will electronically transfer the funds to me in the next batch, which could be up to 6 weeks. Only had to provide my name and mobile number and they asked me 3 yes/no questions to confirm my identity.

Caller: Stephanie Stephanie called from Westpac Remediation team and left a message. My (not so) smart phone blocked the call and identified it as spam.. Westpac owed me $65 from an incorrect charge from years ago. I'm no longer a Westpac customer and I had moved address twice so they couldn't locate me. Long story short, I rang my local Westpac and confirmed the call was legit. I then rang 1300 130 866 and spoke with Corey who processed my refund. Happy days

Caller: Stephanie, Connor This turned out to be a legit call. I received a very suspicious call from Stephanie from Westpac’s remediation team saying that they sent me a cheque that I haven’t claimed yet and started asking me personal questions to verify my identity. I told I’ll hang up and call Westpac, I called Westpac through their secure app, and was transferred to Connor who confirmed this is legit. They processed a refund for the unclaimed cheque

First left a message that it’s a remediation and asked to Call back to 13… number . Next day called again, I challenged that it’s a scam . He said that you are welcome to go to branch to verify this . I Said I definitely would . Perfect English language . Male . Very convincing . Scam

Just got off the phone from an Aussie-speaking person in regard to my deregistered company. He told me the account is now frozen and I can't access the old business account. He asked did I want to proceed with the deregistration of the business bank account or call back later. I told him I was driving, and would call back later (works every time). He mentioned I could call any Bank of Melbourne branch and ask to be put through to the remediation team and then I would be talking to him. Hung up and blocked the number
