Caller: Spammer pretending to be Taxation

Threatenening arrest for tax avoidance.

Call received from (02) 6172 0283 (Canberra number) with recorded message saying "you been identified to have a tax fraud matter and a warrant has been issued"
(all very false of course). Rang that number back, male with Indian accent spoke. When I quizzed further he hung up. Rang number back 5 times and they hung up. Referred number to the ATO. Might ring them back periodically.

Voice recording saying im going to be arrested due to tax avoidance (totally untrue!). Seems legit for about 20 seconds, then gets very ridiculous.

Claiming to be from the ATO, do not call back

Received a call from ‭(02) 6172 0157‬ I let it ring and did a google search. Phone almost the same. They left a robo voicemail threatening arrest due to ATO issues. The voicemail tells you to enter 1 to speak to someone. I entered 5 to delete the voicemail and blocked the number. Total scam.

Caller: Supposed officer *unintelligible* from crime and investigations of *garbled*

Scam caller had a very strong accent and was unable to articulate clearly who they were and where they were calling from. Caller ended the call without succesfully communicating their intent.
After reviewing this page, it appears they may have been attempting to say ATO where it says 'garbled'.
Fortunately, the ATO will never use such unprofessional methods, google 'ato scam' and review their page "verify-or-report-a-scam".

received an email saying that this number was the helpdesk number for paypal and that i had an authorised payment to bitcoin company which is not true i believe this is a scam

Left recorded message claiming to be ATO suggesting I will be arrested for Tax Fraud.
Called number back and they asked for name and TFN. I hung up.

The number location displayed as Canberra however I still don’t answer numbers I am not familiar with. Went to voicemail and stated that a warrant was out for my arrest blah blah blah.

Don’t give any information to these people! I asked them to verify their identity and they didn’t answer, he became very rude and aggressive and ended up telling me to suck his **** among many other horrible things. It’s a man with an Indian accent, sometimes he transfers you to a woman with an Indian accent.

Number (02) 6172 0082 rang pretending to be ATO. Pretended that my tax was fraudulent and that there was a warrant for my arrest.

Received cll from (02) 6172 0283 (Canberra number) with recorded message saying "you been identified to have a tax fraud matter and a warrant has been issued", press a number to be put through to ATO. I did that and a male with Indian accent spoke - phone was cutting in and out. H asked for my Tax File Number. When I enquired whether it was legitimate and asked some questions to try to establish he was from the ATO, he confirmed their Canberra address and gave me a 'batch number' as a reference number and said his name was Samuel Jones. I said I would hang and up and call the ATO back - he told me to call 132861 which is the ATO's number. I called the ATO and said I had been contacted about tax fraud to do with my TFN and asked to be put through quoting the batch number and his name. The actual ATO staff member said there was no record of a call on my file - had I received a fraudulent call? Yes, it appears I had. She put me through to the security team so they could record what had happened.

Long story short, DO NOT GIVE ANY DETAILS TO ANYONE CALLING YOU AND SAYING THEY'RE FROM THE ATO!

Also received the same recorded message today, quite entertaining but not great for those who are more vulnerable and would be concerned by and act on this type of message
