Smac alert on this one. Even if the ATO do actually ring, they will never request sensitive information.

Just got this call. Didn't answer but received a strange automated recorded voicemail message. Definitely a scam! Block this caller immediately.

Just received a voicemail from this number, advising there is an affidavit against my name in the case where I am listed as the prime suspect in the case against me..... then threatening legal action and advised my home is under surveillance. have reported to scamwatch.

I received a call from this number stating my house was under surveillance and that I had an affidavit against me. Ringing back to say my father actually works in the ATO Legal Department, can I please speak to him :)

Just received the same message. First thing I did was good the return phone number and found this page! Thank you. I feel so sorry for elderly or naive people who will panic.

Missed 2 calls from this number but with the second call I then got a text message ... "This message is from Australian Taxation Office to inform you that there is an affidavit being found on your ... " ... they then called a third time and told me that if I paid a bit lover $3,000 the affidavit would be cancelled ... I not so politely told them were to stick their affidavit ...

I received two calls today from someone who didn't identify himself. Start of the message was "office, someone has made a complaint against you and if you don't call this number (02) 6188 6079 within Eight hours action will be taken. The start of the message deliberately blimped out so you would call the number. I called and got a message of a woman with a heavy American accent saying no one could take my call but to leave a message which I declined to do.

Received call today. Call back (02) 6140 3479, didn't catch his name. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. Yep, you guessed it, ATO. What a joke, do they really think we are that stupid? Worries me where they are getting our numbers from. Have to do the block thing again I guess. I would love to know what happens when you return their call or answer phone, but I do have a life. There aren't too many of us that actually have a home phone anymore and know one in my house answers it without screening.

Still happening, have had two of these automated Indian/American accented callers, I just hung up as obviously bogus but some people might get really worried about a call like that. I didn't listen to the end so not exactly sure what they were after but sure it was a scam!

I got an automated message from Nicki Johnson and called back on the number (02) 6152 8695 - I used my own voice over IP call with military grade encryption! So short story was the guy pretty much hung up on me straight away after I told him I received a message to call his number.

I got few calls and left recorded voice msg with Jason name. Saying pretty much the same that they are from ATO and we need to call this number before police take action.😡

My Dad has received three of these bogus calls. The latest one threatens him with arrest due to tax evasion. Considering he is 91 and has been retired for 31 years this is a joke on the scammers.

This is a particularly nasty attempt at a scam. As above, "automated" message on my phone (I no longer pick up if it is a private number) from Jason O'Connor from the ATO saying police were going to turn up at my door due to tax evasion. Naturally I ignored it but it does concern me that someone would be scared into responding.

Just received a message from Jason saying he is from the ATO what a scam

Got home to a message from " Jason O'Connor" from the ATO claiming a law suit against me for tax evasion- called back the number and got nothing.
