just had the same thing happen to me. First thing I did was google their number and found these posts.

Got a call today from this number - scam still alive and kicking.

Two calls now within a week. Apparently my house is now under surveillance because I've committed tax fraud. Tried to call back but no answer both times.

Got call today..Still at it... Why does ATO not stop this? Makes bioidentification a concern

automated message telling me that I'm facing a law suit from ATO - and that my house is under surveillance. Called ATO themselves, they claim I'm all in order and that they're happy with me - as far as a tax man can be I guess.

I notice that most of the comments are from 2015, its now May 2017 and they are still at it with the ATO scam, saying that there is an affidavit against me and my house is under surveillance. just got a message this morning to call (02) 6140 3478. Surely the owners of this number can be tracked down?

Latest number 02 640 3478. Apparently there is an affidavit being filed against me by the ATO and my house is now under constant suveillance 😊 yeah good luck with that! I called the number on another line and said I would wait for a letter and he hung up on me!

Just received automated message from this number. Total bullsh*t. Hope nobody gets scared into believing this crap.

I got the same call about an affidavit. Told me it was a warning before legal actions are to commence.

no letter, no paperwork, all pre-recorded.

after reading 64 complaints in a row, I'm going to take my chances... :)

Blocked this number to my phone. Foreign scammers acting as the ATO

Called from ATO it said

received a auto voice recording fron (02) 6140 3478 saying to ring this number back to avoid prosecution!
what a load of rubbish! SCAM

I noticed that most of these messages are a bit old, and I thought I'd just put up that I have just recieved a missed call from this number, same experience as everyone else it seems. A lady left a message (no name) saying she was calling from the Australian Taxation Office and that there was an affadavit against me and to call them back on the same number, threatening that if I took too long to call back legal action would be taken against me. A lot of the message was blimped out so I couldn't hear it correctly. Luckily I searched the number on here before calling back. I did call back just to see who answered, and it was a man with a heavy accent claiming to be from an Australian Prosecution department. I hung up straight away. Thank you to everyone who has left comments about their experiences otherwise I couldn't have fallen for their trap.

Just rec'd a recorded message to call (02) 6140 3478). I called and spoke with an Indian called David Brown (yeah, right eh?) with a Case Ref # 701-4521 supposedly from Tax & Crime Investigation Unit. Told me I was being sued by the ATO and could go to jail for an unpaid amount of $2430. What an a_ _ hole. I asked for evidence which he said was already posted to me on 2 occasions. He told me I would be served with a summons and have to go to court. He also said the police would come and collect me and that my house was being watched. When I said I wouldn't be doing anything without evidence he got angry and hung up on me. I was totally devastated and upset until I Googled the number and found out it was a hoax. I'm so relieved it was a hoax but what the hell do they get out of doing this. Surely, they are doing it for some gain. Anyone know why they would be doing this cause I'm bamboozled...

Hi all, just received a voice mail with similar story...affidavit, house under surveillance blah blah blah ....didn't bother calling back as its an obvious scam.

(02) 6140 3478 - Got the Ato house under surveillance and affidavit issued call - so still using this number for spam makes you wonder why Telstra don't kill these numbers

The scam is still going on now in May 2017. The voicemail is Australian without an accent. As if the ATO would have you call an ordinary number. Give me a break.
