Called me and said same thing about American Express - I said why - they said they ordered a 2018 premiership football photo (Angaston in South Australia) - I said what premiership photo - they said they don't know and when my father gets home from work he will ring you back.

Caller: a lady with a strong accent

she told me my name and asked me if i accepted American express payments, I said no, I only accept cash or direct deposit, she then said " my husband will contact you later with the technical information..??" (I repair electrical equipment)
after seeing all the comments here it is obviously a scam

just got a call from this number too. We are a charity organisation and he asked if he could make a donation using AMEX. He knew where we were located and said he would come in Monday to donate!

I just received the same call asking if I took american Express, when I said no, they said how about any other credit card for which I said yes than asked who was call, he said Oh thank you I am just calling for my boss, then hung up. Definate scam call but interesting to know what they are gaining from it.

A man from this number called at 1020 today, if this was [the name of our business] and asking whether we accepted American Express cards. I indicated we did not. He then asked if we accepted any other cards. When I asked what he was calling in reference to, he hung up. After reading the reviews on this site, I called the number back and received a message indicating that 'This is a market research company." I have since blocked the number.

Caller: Scammer with Strong Asian Accent

I answered phone: "Good Morning"
Man with strong asian accent asked: "Is your name <full name> ?".
I said: "No ..."
(I was about to say "no-one here by that name", but before I could, and he hung up.

How the hell did he get my full name !
Extremely few places know my full name: banks, ATO, Telstra, Ergon, and that's it.
For every other on-line account I have, I make up and use different names, dates of birth, etc, so there is no way he could have got this information from Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Same as AMEX posts above. He introduced himself way too quickly for me to understand it. When he called he specifically named my husband and asked if he could speak with him. I said he was busy, then got the AMEX question. I was getting a bit suss at this stage and he said thank you for helping him complete his survey. SUPER WEIRD.

Similar to the last two. Wanted to speak to my wife (the business owner). I said she was busy so he seemed happy to talk to me. I couldn't figure out what he was on about, so I got wife to talk as well. We eventually got to the American Express question. When we explained all our business payments are cash or bank transfer, he hung up.

English Gent, acknowleged me by my surname said doing RESEARCH & wanted to know if we accepted American Express for our business, I thought was legitimate & advised we are not in business & have not been for many years. Now by checking here realise are scammers.

Same as above - confirmed my company name then asked "if I accepted AMEX". I said "for what?" She the said "oh, my boss was asking" I said "No" then she hung up.

Does anything get done about these scammers? Does some govt body investigate?

Call from a mumbling idiot this morning via (02) 6140 3464.
He asked if this is [business name]. I said yes, as it is our business name.
He then asked if we take Amex. No.
I asked him where he was from (to see if he was a client, although he sounded so dopey that I had very strong doubts. He said England, but he'd just moved to Glenroy [near our location].
He then asked if we take other credit cards. I again said no.
He thanked me, hung up and crawled back under his rock! a**hole!

just had a phone call from and English man named jack. wanting to make a payment with amex. when i said we dont he seemed agitated.
he said his step dad needed to pay an invoice and that he had left urgently to catch a plane. i asked the name of the company he said G & M. i asked for relating invoice number and he began to tell me he wasn't sure and was a bit confused. started discussing bank details asked if we accepted cheques or cash. all i said was that the details were on the bottom of the invoice for reference. when i asked for the relating invoice number again to reference he said he would go and get it sounded nervous and then came back and repeated the questions. kept saying he couldn't find the invoice he has been asked to pay. just block the number. there should be more penalties for these people.
