An English male rang me and asked if my company took American Express card, I thought it very strange as the company he referred to hasn't traded for a number of years, I asked him why he wanted to know and what services had my company provided them with and he said they were a potential customer, I thought it was a scammer and said we didn't take Aamerica Express only mastercard or visa. That his call was suspicious and I was not interested in dealing with him, he said " is that how you talk to potential customers?" I said I didn't think he was a customer but a scammer. He hung up.

Caller: (02) 6140 3464 Just received a call from (02) 6140 3464 asking if we accepted American Express. Very very similar details to Laurie's call. When I pressed for more details the caller said he was in Queensland and just checking for a friend then promptly hung up.

Girl with Asian accent called my mobile asking if my business takes American Express. I was immediately suspicious and asked who was calling. She said it was for "My dad". I asked for my information and she would only say "It's for my dad" who is a prospective customer. I politely said I was't taking on any new customers and didn't answer her question. Best not to engage with them.

Caller: Some twat A pommy d*ckhead called saying he's calling on behalf of his DAD - just to check payment options. I called back that number and got that cut out line - "You've called to /research marketing company/." And it cuts out. If they are reading this they can stick it where it fits.

Thanks guys I really appreciate this service. They're good at what they do, but I'm glad I checked here. BTW if you hear an obvious scammer try this one; I ask if "Mary Smith from the Telstra Technical department" has ever heard of Adharma - usually NO - so I go on to say that Adharma is that part of Karma that says the lies of a liar don't harm the person being lied to but those lies do enormous damage to the Karmra of the person doing the lying. Nine times out of ten they hang up before you can draw breath. Live well.

Caller: (02) 6140 3464 Called asking our business whether we accept American Express, and said it was for his father. Named our bank account name rather than our organisation name. Had an English accent. Told him to call back later. Heard its an ATO scam.

Hey all, just a heads up! I received a call from these guys today as well, so it would seem they're up to their same tricks. Ken Matthews however, has another person working with him, so please be mindful. Governing bodies will not call you out of the blue to get your details. If in doubt, call the governing body (in this case the ATO) and ask them if they need to talk to you. These day's I don't give out any information to anyone, I call the service provider/governing body back to investigate. If I'm needed they'll know about it.
