Caller claimed to be calling from the Rain Forest Conservation fund and was seeking donations.
Could not tell if the caller was actually calling from the Rain Firest fund or was a third party acting for the Rain Forest Conservation fund. Decided to act on the side of caution and did not donate. No matter how convencing their arguement was.

Parasites, contact them directly, and then contact /email the Fed Minister for Communications, because he is responsible for ebaling this mob to claim charity status, avoid the Do Not call Register and harass ppl.
(Chances are these ppl donate most of their funds (siphon) to political parties who gave them charity status.

The easiest way to save rainforests is not vote for parties who support ANY native logging, not living near or in one, and breeding less humans.

I go this call yesterday, this lady is good!! However when I asked what town she was calling from a couple of times as she didn't answer my question, she hung up. I live in North Queensland and work in tourism so think I would probably know a little bit more about the Rainforest then her. Its a 08 number so guess she was calling from SA. Please be careful and dont get sucked in.

I've had many calls from the exact same voice over last 6 months - female, "English", educated. Originally the spiel was along the lines of "We represent a range of charities trying to improve our effectiveness.....". The one today was "We represent the rain forest..." with specific mention of the Daintree. Exactly the same voice, exactly the same inflections....I am certain that the "caller" is a bot. A really good bot, but a bot none the less. If you've got the time try engaging in conversation about any given topic and ask her specific questions that any normal person might know (I went with "I like your accent - are you English? I've only been to the United Kingdom once - and only to the capital city - do you know the one? What's it's name? What's the capital of the UK?"). You'll find that she will either revert to one of her standard answers (which will make no sense) or disconnect the call. I have to give it to the scammers - it's a relatively good programe - it's not AI because the responses will be really limited in this type of telephone conversation - but the tone and inflection are very impressive.

I just got this one - called from (07) 2139 7530.

The woman's voice was clear and easy to understand, but the speech was recorded and the responses, although they were pretty good at finding the next voiceline, were not perfect.

Caller: Pretending: Rain Forest Conservation

QLD number obviously spoofed answered to a recording of a lady apparently from the Rain Forest Conservation. A lot of talking, with not much information, was clearly pre recorded as what was being said didn't line up, jumping between different recordings. There was no back and forth conversation. Then asked for large donation. What a joke.

Apparently it is illegal for charities etc to leave a message on your answering service. Really annoying as they just keep ringing back if u don't pick up.

They do not leave a message on the answering machine - name and number requested, so why should I call back. Ignored and blocked!

Caller: Next Steps

A lady claiming to be from Next Steps and wanting a minimum donation of $100 towards Domestic Violence. Said that she needed $300 for a hamper for one person and that two people had already donated $100 each and that my donation would enable the hamper to be provided. I told her no and she kept insisting asking me if I could donate $50.
