Me too, they ask all personal questions its like they're trying to get enough info off me for identity fraud. Be careful!
Missed a call then received a message through text....
""Hi John, it's John from Telstra Credit Management please call me back on (08) 8205 4000/">(08) 8205 4000 or my mobile which is (08) 8205 4000/">(08) 8205 4000" Missed Call Service is free. Call 159 to opt out"
This call actually isnt a scam! I had the a bloke with a real thick indian accent call asking for my gas metre number. Sounded doddgy so i told him to go get f@#ked. As soon as i got off the phone to him i contacted origin and they verified that they did make the call to me and it was recorded in thier system. So no, its not a scam, its just a few origin towel heads who can hardly speak english. :-)
yup same thing happened to me just then, he s saying another provider has request something for my origin account, that i have to cancel something first.
On 13/12/2013, about 10:40, received call from (08) 8205 4000 with thick Indian accent, claiming to be from origin knowing my full name, asking my meter number. don't know why they want.
They mentioned my business address (which is available on google). Heavy Indian accent. Received 2 voicemail messages in last few months. Did not bother calling back because sounded dodgy
I received a call from this number, the caller claimed to be from Origin Energy.
The male caller (with a heavy indian accent) advised that my electricity connection appointment had been rescheduled from the morning to the afternoon. As I was actually waiting for my electricity to be connected, I thought this call was legitimate. Unfortunately I hadn't seen this complaints page yet...
I missed my scheduled appointment with Energex as a result and am now without power on one of the hottest days of the season.
I will be contacting Origin Energy on Monday to question them over how my personal information was released to this obviously fraudulent third party.
I just had a similar experience with a man with a thick Indian accent leaving me two voicemails claiming to be from Origin and then, when I finally answered the third time, he asked me to verify my address and I asked why he was calling as I had confirmed only this morning (for the second consecutive day) that I did not want services from Origin. I asked that he not call me again and he responded that he would call again later today! I called Origin to complain and asked the consultant if they were aware of any fraud at the moment and she said they were not. This confirms for me that this is not an isolated incident - I'm going to alert Origin through other channels.
I had a call from this number who knew my real name and my mobile number which is in itself a concern. He had a very thick Indian accent and the line was muffled so it was difficult to hear him but I could hear someone in the background with an Australian accent coaching him about what to say. He asked if I was with Origin and when I said yes (I am not but am about to be as I am moving) he hung up.
Missed a call from this number (08) 8205 4000. received voice message. but the guy spoke too quickly i didn't catch what he said.
I had a missed call from this number today, attemtped to call back but it was constantly engaged. I am not even with Origin, What the.....
I got a call from this number and told me different address, they hardly can speak in english...they are doing some thing doggyy...
Phone call from Indian 88254000 with very heavy accent pretending to be Origin & asking about my gas supply reconnection which incidently was happening the same day so if you ask me... these scammers have inside info from Origin, no question about it. I twigged something was up & put a question to him & he hung up.
Got a call on my WORK number from (08) 8205 4000. Similar to others below, thick Indian accent, dog barking in background, claiming to be from origin wanting to vonfirm my address. They admitted to being in India. I pushed back to see what details they had, and they knew my address. There is no publicly available source that lists my work number with my home address, so they got it from somewhere - presumably it has come from the Origin database. I'm not with Origin, but asked them for a quote last week. Asked to speak to supervisor who gave me the name "Suraj Patil" - probably the Indian version of "John Smith", and encouraged me to ring Origin on their 13 number. There is a Suraj Patil at Origin.

Same call from Origin on my mobile wanting to confim account details.
Thick accent virtually unintelligible.
Very quick since they heard a name and repeated it back later as if they already had it on record. Only on mental rewind did I realise that I had given them the name.
Same deal as above- Indian guy with thick accent called twice in a day saying he was from origin and wanted to make sure we were getting billed correctly. He had my full name and address, but wanted my billing acct number and my meter reader ID.thought this was weird as origin never ask for that when they call out, so asked again why he was calling as he wasn't clear, he avoided the question so I hung up. Called origin direct and the consultant said it's a spammer wanting to transfer my acct over to another provider and he noted my acct and will notify the police.
Constantly calling . When i answer the call i simply do not talk. They dont talk either. All i can hear is the sounds of an overseas call centre in the background. This has been going on for over 2 weeks. I have answered once with hello and they immediately hung up. Maybe they are hoping i will call them back i will not be doing that.
Got a call from this number yesterday, could hardly understand the caller and they asked if i wanted to stay with origin (my electricity is with them) . After googling the number last night, and reading all these comments I rang origin today - turns out they tried to do an unauthorised transfer of the gas, which is with another supplier and not in my name. I managed to cancel it today before it went through. Talk about dodgy, surely they are required to discuss pricing, plans, contract terms, cancellation fees etc before stealing the gas account. VERY DODGY
Just received a call from these guys. Didn't answer - as with everyone here they left a message saying it was an 'urgent' call about my Origin bill. I'm not even signed up to Origin. SCAMMERS!!!
Same as above with origin. And got a call from these idiots. Never answer anyone who says they are from a company. I hang up and call back and speak to someone else. I'm going to report to origin.
