Calls obviously from Asia NOT SA. So much for our "Do not Call" register. All they have to do is say "Charity". We have been expecting calls from SA, so have fallen for this a couple of times.

Enquiries made by the ACMA indicate that this number is assigned to a company that makes calls on behalf of Australian charities, namely MyCharitySurvey.com. Designated telemarketing calls, which include those authorised by charities, are exempt from the DNCR Act. However, charitable calls are still subject to the TRCIS, which limits the hours that the calls can be made, and requires callers to enable calling line identification, provide certain information to consumers, and terminate calls upon request. ACMA advised me that you can 'unsubscribe' via their website which I have done...fingers crossed it works.

This number rings me quite a bit. I never answer anything starting with an 08 as I don't know anyone from those states and have never given my number to anyone but my mother and employer. I get about 3 calls a day from various 08 numbers, even though I'm on the do not call register. It's absolutely relentless

The worst thing you can do is call that number back, as they then have confirmation and you could wind up with a telephone bill with calls over the world.

These people are trolling for live numbers which are onsold to other entities. Beware as in most cases this lot will wind up costing you a lot of money.
