I signed up with Mater for $30 a month exactly a year ago & it was only 3 months ago that i requested them to no longer take the money from my account as i had done my bit in donating to them.
They still continued to take the money out of my account each month & just wouldnt take me off their system so i had to cancel my debit card that they had the details of & be issued with a new card from my bank. I still get calls from the "07" number, i just don't answer. No way will i ever make any donations to Mater ever again!!!

If i dont know a number or it is private i just dont answer but this i had to see who it was now i know not to answer this call already give enough to them and others

These people call me at least 6 times a day. So over it. I just let the phone ring out or just reject the call.

Pete made me giggle. Do you know how the Mater has our number to call us? Because we've GIVEN to them, we've donated, we still ARE buying tickets. Even after telling them repeatedly that we can only afford our 1-5 tickets per lottery, they STILL insist on calling us and trying to bleed MORE money out of us. I give to RSL, Endeavour, BoysTown, Red Cross, UNHCR, Fred Hollowes, Amnesty International, GreenPeace... I can't even remember which other ones some poor kid on the streets sucked me into.

So sorry you feel we're whining, but when we already GIVE to Mater (and other charities) you'll have to forgive our bitchiness when they call constantly even after being told repeatedly to stop and that you already give all you can.

I am 17, not 18 for another 5 weeks. I was bombarded in a shopping centre by a group of these stupid people trying to sell tickets. They told me they couldn't accept cash and I had to give them my bank details for a ONE OFF payment, of course I blatantly asked if this was reoccurring, they said NO. Me being me couldn't just walk away and not give money, especially since I had a little extra so I agreed. They took money our once, I didn't win, oh well. Then they take money out again on the 31st which means I can't pay my rent even after I found out about their lie of a 'one off' payment and rang to be removed! They call me every week day at least once, so frustrating.
What's worse is that I don't even think anyone UNDER 18 is allowed to do something like this are they? And when I spoke to the lady about my details, they person who signed me up put my birth year down as 94 instead of 95.

I checked that type of talk would NOT be considdered as "respectful". I donate money, time or whatever I can to charity when I can, as long as it does NOT affect my family in a negative way. Isn't it an individuals choice to donate or not to without feeling pressure from preacher like yourself???
