I’ve heard of this scam before where a guy phones claiming to represent neighbourhood security. He then went on to mispronounce my business and referred to it as being in Australia so I knew it wasn’t legit.

Caller: Lady from Victoria Police

Got a call yesterday from this number saying they were from Victoria Police looking for and wanting business to pay for advertising in there booklet for helping kids with depression and bullying.. I really was not listening and she said they would send me an email with the information asking on the end of the email if l agree to pay the money.. Again really did not look at the email until this morning when l got two calls one after another from similar numbers who did not leave a message.. Thats when l searched the numbers on Google and found this information.. Bastards..
They used different phone numbers each time they called as follows: 0478 289 746 / 0478 289 746 / 0478 286 005..

Caller: "The Police Journal"

Swarmy voice went on about the "Police Journal" (sounds legit doesn't it?) then went on and asked if I was the manager of the Australian XXXXX Society.
This is puzzling as I'm in it but the only place my mobile number is, is in their data base!
Has this prick accessed that??

I said I wasn't never heard of it and he quickly "sorry, have a good day" and promptly hung up.

A guy called me about a Corolla for sale in the trading post. I've been scam called using this line previously - same voice. When I say I've NEVER had a Corolla for sale, he says, 'So you've sold it have you?'. Last time he got rude and accused me of making a fake ad. Why would I?

Caller: Aipol magazine

Asked to be featured in their magazine, Aipol and offer gold silver and bronze ads. Did a quick google, scammers.

Caller: 0478 286 005

Called and asked if it was our business name he was calling. I said sure is. He said I missed your name. I said who’s calling please. He hung up. Tried to call back and the number was unavailable.

I got a call from this number on 27/02/19 the person Josh claimed to be from a charity group supporting Street Wise and asked for donation of $440. I asked him to send me some info and call me back on Friday. He called back on 1/3/19 from a number 0478 284 322. When I asked him to send me an email from his work email to confirm his identify he hung up. Please be aware. Might be a Scam.
