I was gullible enough to believe this guy and took it one step further. I transferred $4k to his Western Union accounts which the police is trying to recover.

Omg I got the exact same email from Reece Debney as Amanda. All about 15 days on, 15days off at sea in Nz, will get a courier to pick up my car I'm selling in car sales and they'll drive it to NT. I called the bank just to check and they also said scam....probably not much he could do with BSB and account number but always unsettling. Please be careful out there!

Just had the exact same thing but this time he used the number 0408 436 114. Definitely a scam

I had a call from ' Reece Debney' from 0407 659 717 regarding a car for sale. Same as the others, claimed to be working off the coast of New Zealand. Wanted to pay by direct transfer.

Reece Debney is still at work. I just reveived the same con SMS in reply to my ad for an old Honda. He wants me to reply by Hotmail. Strange that he can send texts but can't receive calls or texts himself! Now his number is 0417 446 202.

I have too received an email from 'Reece Debney' saying the same thing about being in New Zealand and wants to buy my ute. The number was from 0428 940 175

He used this mobile no: 0421 369 364

Received numerous emails from him trying to buy my car. Wanted me to pay the freight upfront. Even sent a photo of his licence to prove he was legit. When I refused to pay upfront contact stopped. Clearly a scam

I've had Reece Debney trying to by a car I listed as well. Exactly the same wording as Steve got. I got the text from 0408 218 714 the first day the ad was up. I thought it was too good to be true. Sounds like it is.

This tipped me off a bit with the "No text" bit, but there was also another, similar one earlier today which went:

I will like to know if your car is still available for sale and what is your full price, please get back to me on (glenjton12 @ gmail.com) for easier contact

So if anyone's come by these two please avoid replying.

I received the same message from Reece Debney about a car I'm selling but he used a different nunber. He then contacts via email which sounds dodgy because the questions he asks are already answered in the ad.

His email:

This number contacted me regarding a vehicle I'm selling on Gumtree. It states:

"Hi, regarding your vehicle advert. Pls get back to the email ruddsid @ hotmail.com with the firm price and service history."

I got, "Hi Adam, DO NOT REPLY"
