This is a legitimate number. The mobile is a no reply number. It sends messages from the Australian Department of Education, Skills and Employment. If you reply to the SMS, it gives you a number to call customer support. Links always appear to be .gov.au links. I usually type the link displayed into my browser instead of clicking on it.

Not a scam, stop reporting government services you don't like, it just hurts others

Not a Scam! I see a lot of people saying this is a scam number... Guys, it's literally the listed mobile number used by jobseeker! Just check their website next time you log in to MyGov ->jobseeker and search for the page "How We Communicate". It's in two screenshots and plain text, listed as a confirmed safe number.

Not convinced? Don't trust random folk on the internet? Wise call, but please double check this for your own peace of mind if nought else. The jobseeker site has a search bar, if you want to go manual mode.

Hell, It's literally the second google result for the number on my end. It's an official government webpage (ending in .gov.au).

I followed links from the MyGov website to confirm this, and y'all need to stop being paranoid or spitefully marking it as spam when it's not technically spam. This is part of a vital reminders system that informs people when, say, they're gonna have an appointment that if they miss it could literally lead to their only income being docked or a permanent demerit being placed against them. Don't be worse a**holes than the d*ckhead who designed the jobseeker system, have a little respect for the people who have no choice but to rely on it.

It may *feel* like a scam given how sh*tty the jobseeker system is, but this number's literally been vouched for beyond any doubt. Do your research and don't just bandwagon because it "looks suss". Yeah, jobactive is sh*t and run in a lazy unprofessional way, but that doesn't make them scammers. No matter how much you wish they could be listed as such.

If you're lazy, this is the URL. I wouldn't blame you for not clicking it, but if you can't be arsed researching this yourself it's there.

How dare the government do this on a number that is "disconnected" which means they are contacting people from a "fake" number. At least now they're exposed.

Scam. Telling me I have an appointment tomorrow and asks to check my tasks by clicking on a .gov.au link. I don’t have an appointment and wouldn’t anyway being in stage 4 lockdown. Plus, it is worded terribly.

It is from the people who try and help unemployed people get work - or from the government department of employment. Usually it's to remind of appointments and stuff like that.

Scam.

Claims to be Centrelink, saying click on link to check tasks to do with your Jobseeker payment. Sucks for them, I'm not on a Jobseeker payment!

Got a text
"UPDATE: the gradual return of mutual obligations continues. From 4 August you may receive a penalty if you refuse suitable work. See jobsearch.gov.au/COVID"

1 don't ever click on links from unknown sources. 2 This is very likely a scam to gain access to your mobile device.

Came up on my phone as 'Potential Fraud'

Most people are saying it's Centrelink related. Mine was a message saying I have an overdue toll. Funny, I don't remember the last time I used a toll road. Total scam.

This call was a recorded message saying I had purchased something from eBay for $299 and they were confirming that it was legit and would deduct the money from my bak. I have never bought anything on eBay. I have reported it to my n=bank.
