Had like others received text message ring back 1300 8560917, They asked questions to confirm identity DOB & address. They got me at vunerable time, they got the info'.
Then proceeded to tell me the amount of debt outstanding to Telstra & don't pay them pay Dun & Bradstreet. Phone dropped out before revealing where to pay. to Dun & Bradstreet. Is it ID fraud or collect monies or both?

Thanks for sharing David, I just got this message today - felt like it was suspicious immediately so started googling - why would a major debt collector (D&B) ask me to call them on a reverse charges phone number 1300 224 131 ???? I have reported this online to the ACCC.
Take care everyone.

Beware of this scam. Indian call centers have now latched onto this phishing opportunity. Do not give your personal details to random callers. Auto dialing is used. VOIP is used. Known as the 'Dun and Bradstreet urgent message scam'. Caller insists you tell them your date of birth and other personal details. On-selling of data is the first risk here. Caller will not reveal nature of urgent message. Persistence is the tactic here. Calls are daily. Calls cannot be blocked. Through VOIP the scammers appear as if from a different phone number each time. Even 1300 numbers are used. Indian sweat shop callers with a demanding number of calls to make each day. Aim is that through constant harassment some people will yield. Do not pay the scammers if they claim you have a debt. From the scammers who gave you the Microsft Support scam. Do not aid these scammers to grow this insidious business. Fight back. Do not yield. It has been an easy step for these scammers to pose as Dun and Bradstreet. Similar approach. D&B is a low life western organisation into scamming businesses by advising of supposed negative reports they have to pay to see and clear. D&B is also into debt collection with a model that is ripe as a scam front. Without revealing personal information, try to find out who the debt might be with. Contact the organisation directly. If the debt turns out to be real, pay the organisation directly. Do not pay via D&B and so avoid D&B getting a commission on the debt. Do not assist D&B or their clone Indian scammers to grow. Do not fund them.

The scary thing is...I'm actually dealing with d n b now due to complete incompetence on Telstra's part. That said, d n b are also completely incompetent!

Multiple times, they requested my DOB, full name and address - I refused. They said they could not verify me otherwise. I laughed. Who's to say giving you my DOB verifies that it's me!! Silence...I said I couldn't verify them... The number on the [easily replicable] letter I received was not on the dab.com.au website...how do I know that this is not an elaborate identity theft scam. BTW - Identity theft, cyber security and fraud are my specialty!

After so much frustration, it turns out that this IS a legitimate # but they ask questions that the astute person questions and is wary of...which leads to potentially having a black mark on your credit rating.

I was actually able to get them to cite my mobile # to me without previously giving it to them. I said "Gotcha...that was the missing piece of info I needed to get a full profile of xxxxxxxx"....you could here a pin drop, right next to the penny (that was also dropping!).

This company has hung up on me twice...they can't play hard games 😃

I checked this number as I am always highly suspicious of callers who will not give their name or any form of identification that can be checked. I can only assume that the 1300 401 118 is a number that automatically debits your phone account when you call it. Even if they only scammed you for 50 cents this way, they could be making millions. My advice is to never respond to a number that you don't know, especially if they do not give a name and a business and the reason they want you to call them. Just delete it and report it to this site.

Called our office and started asking about our details, saying they wanted to "update their records". We have no business with them, so told them I'd call back after speaking with my manager. The caller (his name was Arvin?) started talking over me, reading off what sounded like some legal contract, saying that I confirmed something and gave them permission to use our details for their database? A quick search brings up some worrying stories about Dun & Bradstreet. When I asked why he was talking over me and making up some fake verbal contract, he said "I do apologise for that" and just hung up.

If they are going to try and scam people maybe they should use their brains, this number is not connected to Dun and Bradsheet in any way. Addressed me as 'John Stewart', (I'm a 19 year old female with no debt)... Also would not recommend calling their number as the charge for calling 1300 numbers can be quite pricey

I recieved a txt a few days ago from 0416 907 428 with a quote number saying to call them to discuss an important matter. They said they are a debt collection agency (dun and bradstreet) and they told me i have a debt of over $4000. I wasnt aware i had a debt at all, ive emailed them twice after they emailed me a form for payment and i have called many times but they dont answer. Im worried that i do have a debt for something, or is this a scam too.

I received a call from 0478 861 111 from a lady at 6:52pm claiming to be from D&B, asking for me to confirm my details, I refused to stating I had no idea of actually knowing if she was actually from D&B and therefore would not confirm who I was, she stated the matter was urgent and I will be getting a letter, I said I would wait for the letter. Today I get a text from 0416 907 428 stating to contact 1300 167 560, I googled the number and it did not come up with D&B, I called the D&B 1300 365 553 number and asked if it was one of theirs, they couldnt confirm it as theres. Dodgie!

Yep, got the same sort of text from them about calling. Looked it up here just in case and it looks like it's a scam. I've reported it to scamwatch. Going to ignore it now.

Just received their 'urgent' text message, so immediately Googled to find out whether or not it was a scam, and sure enough ... replied with a two-word text (f--- off) and blocked the number.

ATO does infact use external collections. I have worked for Baycorp collecting ATO Debt. As per http://igt.gov.au/files/2015/07/Review-2015-IGT-Debt-Collection.pdf, they also use Bunn And Bradstreet.

If in doubt. call the main ATO number and ask to speak to collections.

I also received a message via text from same mobile number as everyone else, to ring the 1300 number . Recorded message names company as "D & B" which in itself sounds unprofessional for a large company. Will be blocking number

Dun & Bradstreet. If you don't want them calling you anymore, you can write them a letter of demand to stop calling you. They have to comply with that.
Also, if you live in Victoria, the debt laws are that if you say your not paying or it's not your debt, they can not contact you AT ALL. Not even letters to your house.
Research your rights and what debt collectors can and can't do. Stand up for yourself and stop being pushed around. Don't lie to them as they keep notes and if your stories don't match up, they will keep harassing you.
