Beware of this scam. Indian call centers have now latched onto this phishing opportunity. Do not give your personal details to random callers. Auto dialing is used. VOIP is used. Known as the 'Dun and Bradstreet urgent message scam'. Caller insists you tell them your date of birth and other personal details. On-selling of data is the first risk here. Caller will not reveal nature of urgent message. Persistence is the tactic here. Calls are daily. Calls cannot be blocked. Through VOIP the scammers appear as if from a different phone number each time. Even 1300 numbers are used. Indian sweat shop callers with a demanding number of calls to make each day. Aim is that through constant harassment some people will yield. Do not pay the scammers if they claim you have a debt. From the scammers who gave you the Microsft Support scam. Do not aid these scammers to grow this insidious business. Fight back. Do not yield. It has been an easy step for these scammers to pose as Dun and Bradstreet. Similar approach. D&B is a low life western organisation into scamming businesses by advising of supposed negative reports they have to pay to see and clear. D&B is also into debt collection with a model that is ripe as a scam front. Without revealing personal information, try to find out who the debt might be with. Contact the organisation directly. If the debt turns out to be real, pay the organisation directly. Do not pay via D&B and so avoid D&B getting a commission on the debt. Do not assist D&B or their clone Indian scammers to grow. Do not fund them.

they only send those postcards as a result of you running away and avoiding letters and phone calls from them. that's how debt collection agencies operate!

Hi everyone,
This is a genuine number for Dun and Bradstreet calling you for legitimate reasons.

Please check the following link:
http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/enablers/owing-money

Do your homework before you assume every number requesting personal info is a scam. Privacy laws in Australia are strict and debt collectors have to make reasonable attempt to ensure they are speaking to the correct person. Government departments have stricter requirements. By homework, I don't mean typing the number in and believing every Tom, d*ck and Harry that says it is a scam is knowledgable!

Okay, so i got a random "Telegram" from this strange 1300 133 372. If this is really Dun & Bradstreet this is very unprofessional due to the lack of letter head, no statement or information no signiture and most suspecious is the name Casandra... Where is her surname if not her company title to follow!? This is NOT satisfactory and illegitamate to send a "Telegram". D&B should send an actual letter directly from the Company and Call directly to inform if there is any debt owed. I'll only belive if anything is serious if im taken to court "IF" i owe any money till then im just egnoring these people.

CONSTANT calls from random mobile numbers claiming to be part of Human Services Dept. It's become harassment now! Absolute scam as I owe nothing anywhere except a mortgage which is in credit!!! Callers demand private details and threaten escalation of 'matter'. I've reported all numbers, callers names etc to Ombudsman and have provided a statement from Gov Dept of my 'NIL balance owing' to same! Have never owed funds to such Depts ever!!! Beware people... your confidential information is on lists everywhere!!!

Wife received the text and to call the number in question, we thought they were a scam as well at first. The only debt we had was to centrelink from 2 months ago after scratching our heads and trying to think back what we might have done to be contacted by D & B. . I said don't it's a scam. Wife called Centerlink and apparently we received a school bonus for both kids which was before I did my tax return last year. Centrelink via their online app notified my wife we had a school bonus to pay back of $402. She paid that 2 months ago. However we have 2 kids and it was actually $402 for each kid that my wife missed. Centrelink confirmed that D & B had the debt. Wife called the number from their website and went through all the confirmation details of who she was. And YEP that was it. She asked about the text and phone number and they said it was their Melbourne number. Shocking way to make first contact in my opinion considering all the scams that our out there currently. But i'm afraid to say thats it's more likely a Centerlink debt of some kind if D & B text you from that number guys. If your still unsure just call the number on their website and identify yourselves through that Chanel, they don't bite, but you may have a debt that your unaware about.

Caller: Dee

Female person rang today with a Indian accent with very poor English which came across as very mumbling tried to persuade me to give my details to which I asked her details back and she was reluctant to provide that saying that I was asking for too much. She did however identified herself as Dee after much questioning and said that she is working on behalf of Milton Graham. This seems to be a scam be aware. Large debt companies often contact you by mail first and foremost.

SCAM, FRAUD, EXTORTION BE AWARE!

Just received a text from 1300 133 827 saying message from Baycorp when calling quote reference number 600017011596. Baycorp is a debt collection agency I've looked up their number and it's not this one. I have no debts so it must be a scam.

Caller: Sneha (Probably is fake name)

I got one sms (From Milton Graham) yesterday and one call (Sneha) today. Mentioned that important matter to discuss
previously known as "Dun and Bradstreet". The caller an Indian lady mentioned something related to centrelink and outstanding amount to settle. I do not even receive any payment from centrelink.

1300 133 372 is a legitimate number for Dun and Bradstreet. Some kind of debt collectors. I googled it while I was on the phone to them as I thought it sounded a little shady.

However, the number is legitimate. You can check it yourself easily.

One thing I did find suspicious though, when the lady asked me for my personal details, I told her I would not give them unless she was able to tell me why I was receiving calls. She answered "It doesn't matter, if you are who you say you are there is a message on your mygov explaining it" and then hung up on me.
