Just got this scam txt message, said my electricity bill is overdue and the amount is $500+.
Look like these things are still happening.
Yup, a friend who doesn't speak good English got the same text twice with the same message & from the same number 0416 905 141). She requested me to call on her behalf. When I rang the 1300 658 955 number, it doesn't sound like AGL. So I got suspicious and checked the AGL contact number from their website. Then I Google the number and got here.
My friend could be easily scam because of this. Can any authorities here in Australia do something about this?
I still got the damn txt message and 2 weeks later I got automatic robot call to respond me with asking me the same thing. AGL account got overdue. Just hang up this phone call.
This scam is still happening. Got a text from this number on 27 Aug, said my gas bill was overdue with an amount under $100, says to call 1300 658 955 to discuss your options. It also lists a ridiculously long reference number that has no relation to any account number.
Scam automated call reportedly from 'AGL'. Ignore it. They send SMS/TEXT from 0416 905 141 saying Gas or Electricity bill(s) are 'overdue' & ask you to ring 1300 658 955 to 'discuss' payment options. Classic scam.
