If they are a survey company you could be asked about anything and in any context. Simple advice .Don't answer but if your phone will allow it Block the call. My intuition says its an OPTUS survey company

Person who understands, However...

I understand what you are saying completely.. however, whenever i do answer and say "sorry I am not interested" I am very polite, its just who i am. Though when I say it they act as though they didnt hear me and continue though they pause to hear me. when i repeat myself I am polite again, yet once again they do not take notice. that is when i hang up.
I never signed up for anything.. this is a new number and a new phone. I have a lot of people calling wanting another person. this i s why i block. it does get annoying so i understand that people get upset. as I do too.
If i get a nice person answering it and listens to me then i wouldnt feel so bad to listen to what they have to say. but frankly 99% of the time they arent.

the do not call register means do not call use your commonsense, that is a law. my phone is set on silent and digital readout and no they cannot leave a message as i don't have that as i am not with telstra, how do you know they are uni students you dont know that, they could be scammers posing as uni students then sweet talk you into a scam ?. i have had a local real estate agent ringing me i had to threaten them with going to the police and file a complaint that did stop the calls. the best way is a phone with digital display set it on silent that stops them ringing while you are in the middle of everything if it is someone you know you can then ring them back stops a lot of frustration with unwanted callers

This company performs surveys for the Department of Education. 8-10 minutes of survey questions on how you would rate your experience with the education provider.

Our number is on the do not call register and they couldn't care less. Their system calls us yet no-one is at their end to talk. I therefore cannot even tell them to clear off. Their system calls us repeatedly, with no-one at their end. Surely this is illegal, or should be. I am lodging a call with Telstra for a nuisance call and suggest you all do too. If enough of you lodge the complaint with Telstra, and if calls keep coming, then their number will be blocked. That's what they deserve isn't it? If you could talk to someone, you could at least tell them no, but receiving a call in the evening when no-one is at their place to complain to, is not on.

Did not answer, different area code gave it away. So glad to see these comments. The number is now blocked. Who has time for such rubbish.

They're still surveying. They must have called nearly all Australia. I just ask them to hang on and then leave the phone off the hook. Don't know if it pisses them off but it makes me feel a whole lot better.

[Repeat after me: - "I'm sorry I don't take charity, promotional or survey calls. Thank You. Goodbye!" CLUNK] (The three types of calls still permitted even if you're on the "Do Not Call" register)

They said they were doing a survey for Fairfax Media and the results will appear in the newspaper in a few days. I asked how they got my number; they said it was from a 'number pool' database of random 'sample numbers'.
They were at least Australian, but still completely unsolicited, so no cooperation from me.

9 call in 24 hour from this company http://www.iview.com.au/
IVIEWS aim is to collect your data and sell it to direct selling companies
Iview claim they are not a telesales or a direct selling company and are therefore exempt from the do not call register. but they do on sell your details
I asked iview where they got my details from http://www.samplepages.com.au/
Called Sample Pages, They could not comment and hung the phone up on me.
Called Sample Pages, They said no comment.
Called Sample Pages, They could not answer my question for privacy reasons. (WTF.. Its my data)
Sample Pages website - The phone database is a composite phone database, built by contributions from many organisations, that is now Australia's premier non Telstra / Sensis phone database. These parties include charities, telemarketing companies and other business entities.

This company called my unlisted mobile number. When I asked them how they got my private number, they said they used a "random phone number generator". In other words, I had never opted in to them contacting me. Not happy. Good thing I can block their number on my iPhone.

I have a pretty simple solution to "private" numbers... I just don't answer them 😊

DO NOT ANSWER THIS NUMBER.

This is a marketing research company:

http://www.iview.com.au/

They said that they got my number from:

http://www.samplepages.com.au/

The girl I spoke to said that as it's market research, they are not obliged to obey the Do Not Call register. When you call the number, it goes to a recorded message which says they DO comply with the DNC register.
