Had a message left on my answering machine stating that I was in trouble for tax evasion or tax avoidance. asked for me or my lawyer to call (03) 9021 6861 within 3 days to avoid further legal action. The message also said that mail had been returned from our address undelivered and unsigned, and that there is a possible need to issue a warrant for my arrest. even said that our address along with this phone number is under surveillance ?!?!
had and accent .....definitely a SCAM of some sort.

I had a message from a private number telling me to ring this number which I did, they claimed to be the ATO collections dept, or something along those lines, they wanted me to pay $7,891.00 now or face court to pay $90,000.00.....when I said I will get my lawyer to give them a call, they said I would be going to court and hung up.........I had a similar call a while back...both times the male had an accent probably Indian.

This number is used by scammer scum from North India. The Tax Office simply doesn't have any ability to have you arrested or jailed. Even if you were a brazen criminal tax evader, it would take them years of court processes to have you jailed. The scum involved just want to steal your money.

this guys left message on my phone, saying i will be arrested coz of tax avoidence,
hold on i have a accountent doing my work for 10 years, i pay taz for every $ i earn.
so i think this guys r trying to play with our mind.... who gives in and give them thir personal information, so stay way from this indian.. n is a call center i think from the background noise... up to no good

Hi, I just received the same msg from this number saying that I am going to be charged for Tax avoidence. This is strange,

Have now received 3 messages regarding tax avoidance. I early a weekly wage and pay PAYE. Definitely a scam. the first number they requested I call back was (02) 8518 1265 the second was (03) 9021 6861.

Received message on answering machine saying we will be arrested for tax evasion and to get our lawyers to contact this number ..seriously

2 calls in 6 days about this here. Awesome! Does the ATO watch these? I'm sure they'd be interested.

Just got home and listened to my answer machine, same message as everyone else. Tax avoidance and and would be jailed if I didn't call this number.

Yeah I just received the same message too. They didn't give a name, obvious scam. Unfortunately you can't block "No Caller ID" calls

I just had a call from "No Caller Id" and they left a message saying that my accounts had been frozen and that a warrant has been issued for my arrest. They advised me to contact (03) 9021 6861 to discuss the case, the person also adivsed that my address and mobile number are under surveillance. I'd assume it's a scam that some foreign losers are trying to run. Problem is people out there will fall for it.

this is outrageous and completely ridiculous a dead set scam what a joke all the other comments are the same as my circumstances and hope that something may be done about this to put it to rest and rid this world of it. The ATO doesn't and won't ring you in regards to these matters anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the Indian message about Tax evasion and going to court etc. I called back and the Indian guy verified my name, address and land line. He then wanted me to give him my tax file number. When I wanted him to confirm that he was actually from the Tax Office - he said I could verify it with my local police station. He continued to try to get my tax file number. I refused and said I would google the number..... SCAM

I just had a call from a private number. Automated message telling me they were from ATO. All mail etc had been returned to them. That I was compromising my tax etc. That I would be issued a warrant for my arrest and be taken to court and should call (03) 9021 6861 or have my lawyer call them. What a joke. Who do they think they are. Such fraud. I am so sad that so many people would actually be sucked in to this scam an pay up. I have NO issues with the ATO, so I know it is a scam. a**holes....

I received the same msg. Some dirty Asian f*ck trying to rip elderly people off.
Don't fall for it. Dumb dogs I wish I could find these people knock them around a bit.
