Every afternoon around 4pm EST I get a call from this number. It goes straight to my answering machine at which point they hang up and I get an open line signal recorded on the system, but no message! Very frustrating. I don't answer calls on my home line anymore, I screen them...

'Market research' is itself a scam to bypass the Do Not Call Register. Its time the legislation was amended to only permit market research from bone fide registered research organisations.

Otherwise, can someone post the mobile and/or home number of the Director of DBM so we can all ring the f*cker over the weekend....the earlier in the morning the better.

I answered and put the phone on loud speaker so my hubby and adult son could hear. I did not say hello but just waited. Then after 30 seconds of silence where I could still hear someone was there I said, ‘don’t you think you should say hello first’. The guy rudely said ‘no I don’t think it works that way’. So I said ‘I do! And I’m not interested!’ It doesn’t matter how many times I block them, they just call on a different Mum So...so rude!!

I have continual missed calls from this number despite telling them I'm not interested. Might have to quote some of the clever responses I've just read - maybe ask them why they want my private information for, when this is a private line and they shouldn't be calling me?

I don't call back if they don't leave a message, instead i block them. Anyone who thinks an Aussie accent means they're in Aust is very naive. Overseas call centres train their operators to speak with whatever accent matches the country they are calling. If calling Australian numbers they'll speak with an Aussie accent & even have the latest Aust weather up so they can pretend they're in an Australian city.

We gave up answering all landline calls some time ago due to repeated unwanted, unsolicited and/or scam callers (the scam calls invariably came from Indian "call centres", trying to obtain access to our computer, with the intention of ripping off good, decent, hard working Australians of their hard earned money by telling them they're from Microsoft - who never contact). Although this DBM mob don't seem to be anything other than irritating market research seeking an hour of your valuable time - especially on a weekend to elicit personal details. About three weeks ago, I had no less than 16 or 17 calls from these serial pests within a two hour time frame - all on a Saturday or Sunday.
My best advice is to not answer landline calls, wait a while before going to the phone to obtain their origin by hitting *10#. Friends and family will contact you via mobile if you let them know you no longer answer a landline. Presumably DBM stands for 'Dumb Bloody Morons'. Good luck to you all in trying to enjoy a weekend without these unnecessary irritations.
