I called back the number (03) 8613 9353 and reached vm that said I reached AGL Energy They know my name and keep asking me to confirm my address and other details to confirm my energy bill. I dont want to give any details and they keep saying they just need 2 min to discuss my bill but wont tell me what exactly it is without me confirming my personal information. I checked my AGL account, i dont owe anything..... wth i checked with AGL (using their chat function) and they confiormed that this is NOT their number. Thus this is a SCAM! Caller: AGL

Chasing overdue bills, even if you have paid or you have payment plans.
The moment a bill is past due it seems to go to a debt collection team, sometimes outsourced.
They have many different but similar numbers sometimes auto-dialing from outside Australia so the number or caller seems like a scam.
I have had a bill go a few days overdue, then I paid it, but then had their debt collection people calling be 3 times a day for about a week and a half. Was told "Sorry, sometimes there are delays in our records being updated from AGL's.."
Which is why it seems that they outsource some of this...

Rude woman claimed to be from AGL. Rudely demanded details, I refused,. Said she'd send email to my registered email address, which is pointless as scammers often know this and the name of the intended victim. Very dodgy email arrived with no content except adodgy attached file. She was argumentative and rude. I'm tired of these idiots and their harrassing calls. Not the first time.

Persistent calls from this number without voicemails being left - annoying at best. Concurrently SMS’s from agl telling me by Bill is overdue - first ever overdue bill as I’m in Melbourne in the middle of the stage 4 pandemic restrictions and these Toe Jams persist in harassing me even though I’ve authorised them to do the payment again (their computer isn’t capable apparently of processing that request - advises via sms. Ffs).
Time to switch providers.

These scammers know that alot of people go away on the xmas/new year holidays and that's also when gas and electrical bills are issued, meaning that by the time people come back home, there's unpaid bills sitting there waiting for them.
Scammers take this opportunity to call people to gather personal details and/or harass them for money due to the high percentage of people who would genuinely be running late on their bills.
The actual utility companies know that people will be late with their bills on the new year, they aren't going to ring millions of customers who are a week or two late on their bills...
my phone rings, i answer it , and they dont reply straight away, sounds like they are calling from an o/s call centra. I said my name 2 times, then i put my phone down and i heard " if you dont speak now i will end the call... by the time i picked the phone up, they hung up. quite annoying. Caller: They say they are AGL
I'd say this is a scam. They keep ringing and ask me to provide all my details so they can verify me. I refuse to give them any unless they can confirm they are AGL either via email or text message, which they can't do. I finally asked to speak to a manager and was put on hold (without hold music) for around 20 minutes and then the line went dead.

Said it was for marketing. Wouldn't give any other information unless bank account and AGL account details were given first.
Refused to give details (of course) and ended call.
Wanted me fo confirm my details but refused to told me anything about the calling, many times a day.
Already blocked the number.

Called me many times since July 2020. When asking for my details I refused to give it to them and asked what they were calling about. She got angry with me when I told her I was aware this was a scam.
